Guest Kryspen
Poor Pebbles does not do well at night. She's fine during the day but at night she pants like crazy, whimpers and can't settle anywhere. My wife thinks she must be in severe pain. I wonder. I know she has lymphoma, but would the pain come on at, like 3 in the morning, which is when Pebbles seems to be bad? Any ideas, folks? Anyway, I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow. Whether both of us come back is currently an open question.
tbhounds
Can be explained as all side effects of the pred. Panting, pacing, weight loss.....
greysmom
I would first consider whether her pain medication is running out around then. Second, if one or more of her meds is causing this either from side effects or interactions. Third, depending on her age, some sort of sundowner's syndrome or seizure. Hubcitypam
Buddy was on pred but finally the nodes in his neck got so big they made breathing very difficult. That made the decision for me, but everyone has to make their own. That has no relation to three a.m. so the meds wearing off may be it.Thinking of Pebbles today
sarabz
The meds could be causing issues but also look up pet quality of life questionnaires. There have been a few linked on this board - this is one. http://vet.osu.edu/assets/pdf/hospital/companionAnimals/HonoringtheBond/HowDoIKnowWhen.pdf Quote Dave (GLS DeviousDavid) - 6/27/18 Gracie (AMF Saying Grace) - 10/21/12 Bella (KT Britta) - 4/29/05 to 2/13/

Guest Kryspen
Well, it wasn't. The vet said the pred and/or the lymphoma could be causing the symptoms as side effects. He things she's doing very well at the moment and has put on 2kg (around 4 1/2lb), I was very happy, and very relieved to be bringing her back home with me.
