Guest emdash Posted July 10, 2011 Share Posted July 10, 2011 Hi everyone, I haven't posted in a few years, but people here were instrumental in helping Dash settle in with me 9 years ago. Dash was diagnosed with kidney disease in February, and died at the vet of a heart attack on June 18. Even though he was painfully thin and I knew he could not live much longer, his death came as a complete shock. It was sudden and if he suffered, it was momentary. Dash was the first dog I have had as an adult. He was a skittish and terribly shy dog when I got him. If we started to walk and he saw someone coming at the other end of the block, he'd freeze on the spot. He was afraid of everything that hissed and was slow to warm to strangers. Six months later, with lots of love and gentle training, he was still reserved, but much more confident. He continued to blossom all through his years with me, becoming a dignified king of the couch and secretly funny guy. When I first got him, he was so skinny, I didn't see how beautiful he would become! Here he is with me on his gotcha day... and later, with his friend Lucas, my brother's dog.
