greyhoundlov
We lost our spook at nearly 15 as well. During the 13 years we had him, he endeared himself to us in so many ways. They are very special. Big hugs to you and your DH. Quote Mary in Houston Everyone has a photographic memory, but not everyone has film. Guest Naty
I met Tally before I met you, Pat. We wanted to adopt a black dog to honor my late black dobie. We were introduced to all black dogs at the kennel save for one - Tally. Too spooky for first time GH owners, we were told. I remember watching a volunteer try to corral him as we were driving away and we wondered if he will ever know the joy of his own home. The next time I saw Tally was at a get together of the first website team. He was petrified of us all. The look in his eyes over the years mirrored his unbelievable progress - from sheer terror to cautious concern to confidence and to serenity. Tally's journey remains one of the best the feel-good greyhound stories that I had the pleasure of witnessing first-hand. I will miss this boy. He was so worthy of the home and family that earned him. Our thoughts are with you and Howard, Pat. Edited January 18, 2011 by Naty

phall
Thank you, everyone, for such kind words and for your compassion. It is so greatly appreciated as we grieve for our boy. Nancy - I'm so glad that Tally convinced you to take in your own spook. I remember our talks on how to handle certain issues and situations. Joan - you're so right - the ones that make us work the hardest are the ones that are the dearest. And Michael - what can I say? Without you we never would have known Tally. Such a special boy who touched so many people over the years. Thanks so much. Pat

Guest vahoundlover
I am so sorry for your loss. Tally knew he could trust you and your DH to let him blossom in his own time and blossom he did. That's pretty cool.
EllenEveBaz
Maybe he loved the smell of the ocean and the feel of the wind at Dewey. Or maybe he knew it was a place and time filled with wonderful greyhounds and people who love them. I hope that now he is at one huge eternal Dewey.
