This little girl cannot seem to get a break, it seems. She's healed beautifully from the hernia surgery, and we had just switched her over to azathioprine and are weaning her off the pred because of the muscle wasting (she has systemic lupus).

 

I noticed yesterday she was licking herself a lot, and had cried out when I scooped my hand under her butt to put her in my lap last night. I looked her over but saw nothing out of the ordinary.

 

This morning her vulva is so swollen it hurts me looking at it! I can't imagine how she feels! :(

 

She's urinating fine, but we definitely need to get this cleared up!

 

Good thoughts and prayers for my little peanut who has been through a lot in her young age! :hope

Poor baby. Hope it is "just" an infection and can be cleared up easily.

She has a very bad UTI-blood and protein in the urine, very high pH, and the vet got a bunch of pus out! :(

 

She was such a good girl, and I told her she was going to get something very special with her supper tonight.

 

She's on some high-powered antibiotics for 2 weeks to make darned sure we get it cleared up. Being on pred for so long has made her susceptible to things like UTI's.

 

She'll be completely tapered off the pred a week from this coming Thursday and only on the azathioprine by then.

 

The good news was that she is KNOT running a fever, is eating well, and still wants lots of loving. :wub::kiss2:wub:

Poor little bug - I hope the antibiotics do the job and she feels better soon.

She's currently sacked out under the desk with Randy. :sleepy:wub:

 

I had to give her tramadol last night as she started to whine and lick herself again, poor little bean. That seemed to take away the owie. :)

 

Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in really soon.
