Tuesday afternoon:

Cora continues to improve.

She can walk/trot without support, although her trot looks like something from a cartoon. She can also turn, slow, and stop. She can go down the ramp from the deck quite well, but is a bit less steady on the way up. She is starting to go down the stairs (three) from the house to the deck but needs quite a bit of help. She tried going up once (last night) and it was awkward; she has not attempted it again--I lift her in. She still needs support to potty, but has regained enough confidence that the pattern is returning to normal--she is no longer holding on forever.

Today at lunchtime I switched from the sling (which does a better job of supporting the rear end) to the harness (more front support and less awkward for me). (She wore the harness constantly at first so I could keep her on her feet when she came out of the crate, but I took it off on Saturday.) She handled the change quite well. She even did one pee with minimal support.

She is now doing the full morning and lunchtime walks. Last night she did about 2/3 of the evening walk.

In the house, she has not been anywhere without the sling. She wants to be on the dog beds in the living room, but won't settle.

I thought she wanted to join us upstairs at bedtime, so last night I put non-slip mats all over the place. But she opted to return to her crate. Perhaps it's just as well, since when she was attempting to lie down on the dog beds, she landed on Jessie's back legs (fortunately Jess just got up).

If she continues to improve at the current rate, she should be able to rejoin the others on walks soon. That will make both Cora and me very happy. I don't know how long it will be before she regains her freedom in the house, but it will probably occur later than it could because I know what a slip on the hardwood can do to a femur: I do KNOT want another accident.

All in all, I think she's doing pretty well. :)

She sure is a strong little girl. And good girl Jessie for not reacting when she fell! I think they know when the other pup can't help it.

Continued prayers for your sweetie. Keep up the good work baby girl!

Wednesday am mini-update:

This morning Cora:

- peed without support several times

- went up the ramp to the deck completely on her own

- after some hesitation, went up the 3 steps from the deck to the house

- tried, for the first time, the 6 steps to the front hall; going down she needed a lot of help, but (on the second try) she went up as if there had never been a problem

Happy Canada Day!!!
