He was being treated successfully with acupuncture, chiropractic procedures, and pain meds. Griffin was a happy boy who flung stuffies across the room and pounced on his sister, Ava, trying to entice her to play with him. Friday morning Griffin's back legs became paralyzed with no warning. One moment he was fine, the next he could not get up. From the X-rays it appeared to be an acute case of LS or the discs between the last three vertebrae in his spine disintegrated. For three days Griffin's wonderful team of vets did what they could to give him back the use of this legs but after 72 hours they agreed that the treatments were not working. Griffin's spirit was so strong that I struggled to make the decision I knew was best for him but not for me. Griffin came to me just before his second birthday. He was so calm and sweet, a big 85lb dark brindle boy who loved to snuggle and nap. Once he had nested his bed to his satisfaction Griffin would flop down with a mighty groan. I loved to watch him sleep as his cheeks would puffed in and out, his tail would wag, and he would yip while chasing rabbits in his dreams. I can't stop crying.
