DawnP
Yes we are incredibly relieved. ahicks51, yes the first thing they did at the first emergency clinic was give her a shot of steroids for the swelling and morphine for the pain. Then they recommended we get her to Animal Medical Center or Cornell to see the best Neurologists in the area. Utica is 3 hours away and Manhattan is 1 so it was a no brainer. He recommended both equally. I have to say that they have been wonderful at AMC. I was only able to sleep last night because I knew she would be well cared for. They are very thorough and have kept us informed as to how she is doing. We are expecting another call in the next hour with an update. We even have a direct line to the Dr. if we have any questions or concerns. We cannot wait to bring her home tomorrow. Guest nerak254
I am so happy she's going to be ok, been thinking about this all day. I bet she'll be fine with other hounds around. We had to do this with Goody too. She had broken her shoulder doing zoomies in the dark and was confined for several weeks too. Our house was a walkout rambler so she was confined to the lower level. She became depressed and the track suggested a foster to lift her spirits. The hound who came had severe SA and I had to take her back to the track after some mishaps which weren't funny then but are now. The good news of it all is when I took her back, Jessica had just come off the track and the Adoption Center manager said you have to see this dog... no one else had looked at her and no one ever had the chance to 'cuz I fell in love then. Keep us posted.

DawnP
Wonderful news!! We found this harness invaluable to help our Boss man. http://northcoastgreyhounds.net/store/index.php/cat_140 Thanks VAHoundLover. I just sent and email to Carol to inquire about the harness. Since Maggie will need help standing and walking, this could really help us out. I appreciate the tip! giadog
I'm just seeing this now, but thank doG for the good news! We had to do 6 weeks of crate rest when we first got Butkus b/c of his heartworm. It's trying, but SO much more preferable than the other options!

Guest MyCody
Greyt news, hope she has a complete recovery. We had to do two weeks of crate rest and out only with a sling when Cody was first diagnosed with his protruding discs, but it avoided surgery and he is doing very well with Rimadyl and tramadol which he's been on for over a year.
