  1. Thank you so much for taking them in Jan. They could not have been in a better place to live out their lives. <3
  2. What a beautiful tribute to a sweet boy. I am honored to have had the opportunity to meet you dear Bosco. Jan, you made him feel so loved and cherished in his final days. He is a true camper indeed Rest well sweetheart.
  3. We have an adopter who lives in Fairfield and uses Dr William Lovers at Animal Hospital of Greenwich and Stamford. It's on the Stamford/Greenwich line. Her family has used this vet for several years
  4. Just saw this thread and tried to catch up with all of the posts. Kar, are you interested in a second opinion from another vet?
  5. Karen-I am with CT Greyhound Adoption. I just sent you an email. Someone forwarded me the link to this thread. If you don't get the email, you can call the CGA phone at 860-836-5049 after 5pm. I left it home today. We'd like to help if we can Dawn
  6. So very sorry for your loss
  7. Wow I just read this and our Ashlyn has the same issue. It's very sporadic and has not happened in several months but for a while back, it was happening almost every morning before I went to work. I was afraid she had epilepsy. I feel a little better now.
  8. Maggie has been getting a little better each day. However, in the midst of all this, my brother got married yesterday in my home state of CT. I had to entrust Maggie's care to a petsitter. She did a great job but I think the excitement might have been too much. Today her body has been trembling a lot. I have not had to give her the codeine in 3 days but I gave her one today so she will be zonked and not move. Hopefully, we have not taken a step backward. Several people have mentioned acupuncture. I guess I really should look into it. Anything that will help her recover. I think there is someone in our area we could go to. Fortunately, I have an understanding boss who is allowing me to work from home all week. I feel much better that I will be able to take care of her round the clock and not have to hire someone. There's no care like Mama's care... Will send another update at the end of the week. Thanks everyone.
  9. I'm so sorry to hear about your boy. Many prayers are being sent your way from NY.
  10. Hi Everyone Maggie is finally home! She is resting comfortably in her favorite doggie bed. She is completely zonked due to the codeine and Gabapentin. We did get her up to walk out in the yard a bit. Her right side was affected more than her left. She also has vasculitis in her right front leg but it looks a lot better already. She is still knuckling under with both legs and has to be supported. They gave us a sling but I took vahoundlover's advice and ordered a harness from Carol. It's already on it's way. We have a long road ahead of meds, warm compresses, passive exercises and several walkies a day to keep down the edema. After that, a slow journey back to normal activity. But it will be worth it to see her back to her old bossy self. Hopefully, that will happen in around 8 weeks! I'll check back in and let everyone know how she is progressing each week. Thank you all again for all of your well wishes!!! The Greyhound community is wonderful
  11. Thanks VAHoundLover. I just sent and email to Carol to inquire about the harness. Since Maggie will need help standing and walking, this could really help us out. I appreciate the tip!
  12. Our best to Canyon. Hoping his surgery is a success!!
  13. Sending prayers from all of us in Monroe NY. Hang in there Rocky!!!!!
  14. Yes we are incredibly relieved. ahicks51, yes the first thing they did at the first emergency clinic was give her a shot of steroids for the swelling and morphine for the pain. Then they recommended we get her to Animal Medical Center or Cornell to see the best Neurologists in the area. Utica is 3 hours away and Manhattan is 1 so it was a no brainer. He recommended both equally. I have to say that they have been wonderful at AMC. I was only able to sleep last night because I knew she would be well cared for. They are very thorough and have kept us informed as to how she is doing. We are expecting another call in the next hour with an update. We even have a direct line to the Dr. if we have any questions or concerns. We cannot wait to bring her home tomorrow.
  15. Hi Everyone We just heard back from the Dr and YAHOO, no surgery! She has severe inflammation and a degeneration of a disc but 4 weeks of crate rest should do the trick. She will need to be monitored constantly and only come out to eat, pee and poop. After that they expect a 95% recovery. She may be a little clumsy but that should not be a big problem. Thanks again to all of you for your positive thoughts and prayers. We appreciate them all!!
  16. Hi Everyone Thanks so much for all of your thoughts and prayers for Maggie. As I write, we are waiting to hear from the Dr. on the results of the MRI. As of this morning, her movement was the same as last night. She can stand and walk but only with support. Their thoughts are it's either a slipped disc or a spinal fracture. If it's a fracture, she will need surgery immediately. Please keep her in your prayers and I will send updates as I have something new to tell. Dawn
