Sending lots of prayers. Try and keep her on some nice comfy beds, I bet it's a hydroma she's getting on her elbow. Soft bedding will help keep it from getting more irritated.

Her appetite has been on and off...been trying to feed her chicken breasts and lean sirloin. She likes to eat canned cat food. Not too crazy about that and I gave her 1/2 of a meatball parm sandwich the other day. I know it's not the best diet, but I need to put something in her belly.

I've tried tuna fish (which normally she loves) and she put her nose up to it as well as canned salmon.

My baby's losing weight. :( Someone here on GT recommended a product that they got from their vet when their pup was sick with cancer. I'll go back and check the posts and call my vet tomorrow to see if they have it or if maybe I can get it from the oncologist. It's just that they are so darn expensive up at Redbank.

I've gotten Rimadyl from my vet for around $45.00...Redbank charged me $75.00 for the same amount. Ridiculous...even the Tramadol was marked up much more than my local vets. Sometimes they make it so hard to treat our pets.

I'm gonna give the Radiologist a call. She's the same woman who treated my Chance when he had osteo back in 2000. The markings where she's receiving her radiation are very low on the inside of her leg...the cancer is higher up on her hip, so I don't understand that. But I will ask.

Off to give kisses to my favorite girl.....have a great weekend all.

You can get the tramadol at Walmart or any of the other drug stores that have reduced price generics. Walmart will definitely fill a pet prescription. $4 to fill is worth the trip.

Redbank is always more money. How do you think they got that beautiful building? Seriously, they are open 24/7 and there when we need them. I do respect Dr. Ringel, a lot. I have not used any other doctor there as a specialist, but I know people who have.

Good luck with your sweet girl. Brandy would eat Vienna sausage. Give that a try.

Let her eat whatever she will eat. Try cooked chicken livers, sardines, salmon. Make a pot roast (no onions) with a carrots and potatoes. Shred the meat, put that with gravy on some regular food. Whatever it takes, just keep her eating. I used to sit on the floor and make peanut butter sandwhiches "for me" and would take a small bite, give one to my girl and keep doing that until I knew she had ate enough.

Linda try the Costco for the Tramadol. Very cheap there. See if your vet will match their price. TR vet always did for me or I would go to Costco. The Rimadyl is animal rx only so there is no way to get that cheaper. You did excellent with that price. If you go on the web site they have a rebate program. It helps. They give you $10 back with a check written out to your vet for the next refill. Every bit helps. I think about you and Cricket every day. Give her a kiss for me. You are in my prayers.

You can get Rimadyl from KV Vet supply very inexpensive and all you need is a prescription from your vet they can even fax it in. Check them out online for any supplies and if your order is $50.00 or more it is free shipping, When our Phawn was diagnosed with Osteo my vet gave me the prescription and also for other meds...

Some pharmacies will match Costco prices our one supermarket does for our Phenobarbital

A lot of Pharmacies have the $4.00 generic drugs but do not advertise ask and see if they do I know Rite Aid is one

Linda - just checking in on you and sweet Cricket. I am hoping she ate a bit more over the weekend. If not, have you tried grilling some salmon and feeding it to her? ****Hugs***

Hey Melissa...we've tried everything. It seems to be a hit or miss with her. My neighbor brought her over some Pedigree pouch food and she seems to like it. I'll give her whatever she wants. I've been always such a food snob....now I'm starting to wonder does it really matter what we feed'em? Is it strictly genetics? I've always fed my hounds Innova and Natura products and Cricket will be my 3rd hound that I will lose to cancer.

I did speak with the Oncologist and he's going to give me something to hopefully help stimulate her appetite.

The girl wants to eat canned cat food. And she eats it with gusto....so I think she may be playing me a bit. If she were truly not feeling that good, I would think that she'd turn her nose up to everything. She's always been a stinker and will go for the cat food, but at this point I don't care. She will get anything that she wants.

She goes for her second radiation treatment tomorrow...I hope she starts feeling better.

Thanks for asking....

Have you tried canned tripe from the pet store? I know my sick greyhounds love cat food but I understand it is not good for their kidneys.

Prayers and white light for Cricket.

I know....like I said, I'm not crazy about giving her cat food. She has eaten tripe in the past and I will buy her some. I just hope maybe whatever her Oncologist gives her will help her to want to eat her normal food.

I did try putting some PB on a piece of Italian bread...she didn't want it, but yet she'll lick it off my finger. Go figure.

If she'll eat PB, just give her a dish of it! That should pack some weight on her. If you can get just regular white bread in her with it, so much the better. That's what my vet uses to put weight on hounds that are too skinny.
