Guest carebear530
Sorry this sin't about a greyhound, but I'm in such pain that I have to reach out. My cat Gilmore passed away early this morning. He was 7 years old & quite the cat. He was such a people cat & loved to be with us all the time. He HAD to be with us & would cry until we picked him up & held him. Or he would curl up with us. I can't even begin to explain what a special cat he was. He had such a personality & was unlike any cat I have ever known. From the time we adopted him from the animal rescue with his brother Kipsey he had stolen our hearts. He had tugged on Marc's show lace & cried that day like he knew we were the people he was supposed to come home with. Even as a tiny kitten he knew. Anyway we came home last night from playing cards with our friends & found him crying on the bathroom floor. He looked ok at first, but then we realized his back legs didn't work. Our friends hurried over & my friend Theresa who is a vet tech told us he might have a blood clot in his back legs. We hoped she was wrong as we drove to the emergency vet. When we got there the vet confirmed our fears. I guess he probably had heart problems & a blood clot had come loose from his heart & went into his legs. He was in a lot of pain & looked very confused trying to get up a few times. My friend & the vet told us that treatment has a very low success rate & he would be in a lot of pain. They told us if we put him through treatment the same thing would probably happen again a little later. We made a very hard decision to let him go. We brought him home & buried him in our flower garden. We planted some tall grass (because he LOVED to eat grass) right where we buried him & then planted some flowers around him that will come up every year. It was so hard. My husband Marc is hurting pretty bad too as he was his little buddy. He spent time petting him & kissed him on the head. It's breaking my heart. Here is another one. Gilmore is on the right & Kipsey is on the left.

maryz
I'm so sorry for your loss. I, too, lost my heart kitty at the age of 7 from a vaccine-induced fibrosarcoma. It was a year and a half ago and I still think about him every day and miss him terribly. As time goes by, you will be able to smile when you remember certain things about him that were so special to you. Gilmore will always have a part of your heart. It's just that it seems he took it with him when he went to The Bridge. You'll get most of it back, eventually....and Gilmore will live forever in your heart.
