Guest BasilMom
Very sad news here today for our Holly who is a five year old seizure dog. She has been limping for about two weeks now and was on Rimydal. Not too good improvement so I brought her in for X-Rays. Vets thought it looked like a cyst in her shoulder but sent it out to be read by a specialist. Not good news I have not gotten the report faxed to me yet but it is some kind a tumor and I should make a appointment with a chemo specialist. My head is spinning. I am going to go to NGAP in Philadelphia for a second opionion. Any suggestions. My heart is breaking.

Aerosmom
I have been right where you are very recently. I'm so sorry that you are facing this. I hope it's something you've caught early and can deal with. My Snickers is just five too -- some how it just doesn't seem fair or even possible. Guest BasilMom
Thanks Linda. Going to Philly hopefully Tuesday for second opinion but in my heart I already know the answer. I think it will help Stephanie though. I think Tony and her need to hear it other from me. It is very hard because my local vets really didn't think from the xray that it was CA. Radiologists think different. Yesterday I noticed some slight swelling in the shoulder area and that kind of confirms the worst for me. Limp is progressing and I'm not sure in her case if I will do anything more than pain management for her. Her rear legs are pretty weak from the seizure meds that doing amputation really doesn't seem fair to her. She deserves a better quality of life. What did you opt for with Chance? Most important for me is not making her suffer. I know I'll know when it its time. She is still so full of life and seems happy except for the limping. I'm not sure to look for in Osteomyolitis? Same symptoms or more illness? Her appetite if fine (You know Holly)LOL and she is not limiting herself with excercise. The seizure meds slow her down so it's hard to tell with her. Thank you again for your concern.

Guest BasilMom
I've been doing some reading on Valley Fever today. With Holly being a seizure dog and now this issue with the limp I am going to have her tested. I looked back at my Blue Slip info and her owner lives in New Mexico. I'm not sure if that means she was in that area but it's worth a chance. Too many different views from the Vets. My vets thinking it's a cyst and the Radiologist thinking CA. If you saw her today you wouldn't believe it. No pain meds today and very happy. This is killing me. I am prepared for the worst but feel I should look at Valley Fever. This dog was not right when I adopted her. She looked unhealthy and seizures. Now she looks perfect. She still has the limp but it doesn't seem to bother her. She was a very timid and submissive dog and her personality has blossomed. I worked so hard with her to get where she is today and now this terrible thing. It's just too sad. iluvgreys
Very good idea to test for VF. We've had a couple of dogs that have had "the limp" + funny x-rays and turned up with VF which is treatable. Keeping your lovely girlie in my prayers.
