Im so very confused. I have no experience in what symptoms to look for in OS or Valley Fever. Yesterday I could have sworn her right shoulder looked swollen and this morning I'll be darn if I can find the same lump. It seems to come and go. As far as the lamness it seems to be the same thing. Last night she seems to be having a real struggle to get around. This morning only a slight limp. She had a really great day yesterday too. It seems to be worse after restiing it a lot. Does OS have symptoms that come and go or should I see steady or worsing of the lameness?

I know with my personal experience with OS once Chance started limping it didn't come and go. The limp just got worse, but I don't know about other peoples experience with OS and their pets.

Annette I'm praying and hoping that maybe it's something else. I know how hard this is for you and your family.

Like I said yesterday if there's anything that I can do, even if you just want to talk, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me. I'm here for you.

Once I noticed my grey Wenda had a lump on her shoulder blade it never went away. It progressively got bigger...

Took Holly into Philly today for a second opinion. I had blood work done for Valley Fever. Had a new set of films done. Her lungs are clear. There is not much change between last weeks films and the ones taken today. She was examined and did not flinch until she was examined near the inside area near the tendon then she showed some discomfort. She walked away on the leg with the limp like it felt better after all that. Anyway the only thing that shows up different from last week is that there is a shadowed area that is where the swelling is but there seems to be a line of demarcation that seperates it from the bone. Almost like a soft tissue swelling. Did not get conclusive results which can only be done with a biopsy. Right now I will wait for blood results and than if negative take her to a specialized hospital here in N.J. for a consult. There is a tumor but I don't think anyone is really sure if it is in the bone itself or in the tendon. It is a lytic lesion. So right now we have 5 Vets one a radiologist but no really concrete answer. Keep Holly in your prayers. I'm already into $ four figures and have no answer but am going to continue. Good news or bad I need to know that I've done what I could for her. She deserves it.

From what I have read here, I think sending everything to Dr. Couto in Ohio might be your next step. He is THE EXPERT on greyhounds and has helped so many GT'ers with difficult diagnoses.

Good luck, I am sorry you are going through this.

Will be thinking about you and your grey and sending healing thoughts.

After recently going through my grey being sick I know how you feel.

My experiences with OS were just like septembercrow's. Once swelling started, it just gradually got worse, as did the limping. :( I second the suggestion to send Dr. Couto the x-rays and lab results. Keeping prayers flowing to your sweet Holly. :hope

Just received Holly's lab work back for Valley Fever Panel. All negative. Off to Red Bank on Thursday for a consultation with a specialist. Holly is holding up great. She is doing very well. Limping is intermitent. I on the other hand am very worried about her but have come to grips with the fact that she may not be here long with us. Let's see what the specialist says. Keep praying for our Holly.

Many prayers for you and Holly. :hope:hope

Did you send (e-mail or fax) to Dr. Cuoto for his opinion? If they can overnight the x-rays may help too.
