  1. Three of my dogs are registered with Avid chips and one has a Home Again chip. I know for a fact that the Home Again scanner reads the Avid chips. See post #25
  2. Supposedly the new Home Again Scanners read Avid and some European chips....or so it says on the scanner package.
  3. Girl (Bianca) must have been one of the first because she was chipped last August. I am just afraid that Home Again is now using the chips sort of like retailers that hope you don't send in the rebate and that is sad to me. They actively push adoption groups and people like my boss with such low prices on the chips so they can offer $20 or $25 for it to be implanted by untrained personnel so they can pull in that $14.99 per dog per year. A few rescues here do it as a fundraiser. The owner shoves the paperwork in his/her bag THEN gets home and if they read it at all realize they gotta pony up forever.
  4. If you look at their site it may be an upgrade but it doesn't read like that on the form.
  5. I have the paperwork in front of me. "I agree to pay the $10 activation fee and $14.99 annual membership"
  6. If I find a wandering waif the first place I take it is the vet on the corner to check for a chip. They told me in all their years of chip reading hundreds of dogs they have reunited exactly two with the owners. By and large most people don't bother to register the chip (the paperwork from Home Again on my last foster requested $19.99 a year) or they move and forget to update the microchip.
  7. I drive barefoot most of the time but have a pair of flip flops tucked up by the drivers seat. Who's to know.
  8. I've used it. It is far less expensive that Heartgard and has exactly the same ingredients (Ivermectin/Pyantel). Basically it is generic Heartgard but I don't think the repel mosquitos part holds water (and I don't see claims to such on their website). A vet friend of mine swears that Heartgard is the most overpriced drug in vet medicine.
  9. One of my adopters is retired and on a fixed income. Her 10 year old grey has become ill and after a million tests they still can't figure out what is wrong. They said the next step was exploratory surgery but she doesn't want to do that. He is on i/d but is is putting a pretty serious dent in her pocketbook. Is there something she can cook herself that could sub?
  10. Preventic is OK for use on greys. Frontline is for fleas and ticks, Advantage is for just fleas.
  11. Well I'm out of it Dairy Queens in the north don't have steak fingers do they? Did you get a dip cone? Those are my favorite.
  12. Hey do the double trailers like the one pictured count as 1 or 2?
  13. It is Sunday night there. If she is eating, drinking and not in distress I'd wait until morning and get her to your vet ASAP. That's just me. If I had all the $$$ I spent for needless e-vet visits because I panicked I'd have quite a stash of cash. That is my guideline now.
  14. Is it safe for greys...Bailey is 9.5 yrs. old Yes it is. Give it with food as it can cause tummy issues...as Poodle can tell you. He just finished his round.
  15. FWIW the Beef 'n More canned is made by Merrick in the same plant with virtually the same ingredents as Cowboy Cookout. Available at my Sprawlmart for an amazing .53 a can.
  16. That is exactly what happened to Poodle last week! You have my sympathy as it scared me poopless. He threw up and was walking like a drunken sailor and falling over. Opinion is divided on if it is/was an ear infection or vestibular syndrome. I had never heard of it before.
  17. See I'm thinking he is being double dosed....
  18. Poodle is on 2--500mg doses a day and that seems like a lot for 25#. They are the two shaded green capsules and are about as big as his throat which doesn't help.
  19. For a 25# dog? I know dogs take more than humans but I'm afraid Poodle is being overdosed. He is having bad tummy issues. Do you think giving him som Dannon Activia might help?
  20. Thank goodness my part of Dallas is almost tick free -- I haven't seen one in the 5+ years we've been here. When I got those strays and farm dogs from Oklahoma I was up to my eyeballs in ticks. I stopped counting after 200 on one stray. I am not good about ticks on myself tho.
  21. You and Logan are in my thoughts today. Fly free big guy.
