  1. Is Diana still drinking water? My kidney kids went quickly and despite tempting them with non-healthy foods, they still would not eat. Mine came to me late in their lives. Perhaps I'm wrong but I say give her whatever she will eat.
  2. I am not in the same town as this dog. She's staying at the vet's office so they can closely monitor her other problems. Then she'll make her way to a good foster home.
  3. What would be the time frame for a dog to come in contact with and then test positive for whipworms and roundworms? This is a non-greyhound sighthound who was in a bad foster situation for less than a month. Prior to that wasn't so good either. She has also tested positive for heartworms.
  4. On the same day I transported Egypt (formerly Nova), I picked up another sighthound from a very bad place. In the next week I was able to get 2 more away from the wacko who thought nothing was wrong. Apparantly I, and the Animal Control supervisor in that town, are the cruelest people, according to her FB posts. She's got her idiot friends rallying behind her. She's claiming that the 3 sighthounds were underweight and flea ridden and that she'd fixed that. Nope. Thank doG for Capstar, and food and baths as they got none of that from her. I have to bite my tongue for now, because there are 14 more of these sighthounds stuck at another location with another person. It may take months to get them out and legally there is nothing we can do. Egypt is a very lucky girl. How an owner could look at her each day and not think she needs a vet STAT.... How an owner could recently get a full back tattoo and then say she didn't have the money for a vet.....
  5. I will add Harley's name to the list of Bridge Angels for December.
  6. A bit thick or viscous. It was dark outside when she peed in my front yard so I didn't notice it then. She peed several small times when I got her on the adoption kennel's property. Looked clear, not dark. She had not had any water on the drive although owner said she had some that morning. Had diarrhea in owner's apartment *here's what I think of you people!* GTer Roo was there to take her in. She commented on the syrupy aspect and smelled bad too.
  7. Yesterday I transported a 9 y.o. female greyhound back to it's original adoption kennel. I'd been trying to get my hands on this dog for some time. Owner dumped her my house at 6am as I was leaving to transport another dog across the state. Since it was still dark all I could see was that she was severely emaciated. The top line of her spine was all pointy bones. She was so full of flea dirt that petting her felt like trying to read War & Peace in braille. She was wearing an old, generic flea collar. Had not had vet care in a year. Owner couldn't afford vet care, yet looking at her FB pictures, she could afford 2 dirt bikes and lots of new tattoos. Once back at PRH I could see an abcess or possible ruptured anal gland. Complete with maggots. When I asked about cat/small dog safe owner replied, "She does great with our 6 boa constrictors" Enough venting The kennel volunteer, also a GT member , noticed that her urine looked syrupy. What horror has this poor girl got going on in her bladder? Despite this neglect she is happy, sweet and this likes humans.
  8. Did you get it in capsule form or into a liquid? The liquid is only good for 7 days before expiring and has to be refrigerated. In hindsight I should have gotten it in capsules.
  9. Yes, we never have enough minutes with them.
  10. One (our first greyhound Gracie) out of 12. Took her about 2 years to completely grow out of it. One foster out of 4. She never grew out of it.
  11. Saying goodbye to the beautiful greyhounds and their friends who left us in December 2015. As you run with the wind send a caress to wipe our tears. Gone but never forgotten. Loved forever. Run free with those who have gone before you. Greet all those that will follow. Max Marley, the cat Sofia, an artist Darcy Roo CeeCee Ivy Raven Harley Stephanie (bradyzmommy) Chaos Mariah Pearl They'll always be with us, just slightly beyond the point that we can see with our eyes. In our heart, though, they'll be bright and clear, as they always were.
  12. IMO he is still too now to go off leash at all times. Off-leash in unfenced areas is a hot topic here. Those who do it know the risks and spend a great deal of time practicing. And yet it can still be deadly. While on leash I'd keep it short to minimize zig zags and spins.
  13. Hi Brian! What part of NC are you in? We're by Camp Lejeune.
  14. What everyone else above said and try Richard's Organic Pet Calm from chewy.com. Although Trazadone did help Mazy with her extreme thunderstorm fears I wanted something non-prescription. Rescue Remedy had no effect. With the Richard's I give Mazy 1-2 full droppers in her mouth and she chills out without acting drugged.
  15. Check out www.greythealth.com That's Dr Stack's site. Print out some of the articles and give them to your vet.
  16. What were the platelet numbers? Greyhound range is 80,000-200,000 per Dr Stack or 110,000-205,000 per Dr Couto.
