  1. My non-grey, Miss Pudge le Mutt, has always been plagued with itchy skin. Vet-prescribed pills either don't work or make her sick. Sometimes I resort to bendryl. I hate to keep drugging her. Recently used a vet-prescribed shampoo that barely made any difference along with an antibiotic. Itch itch, chew chew. Today at Pudge's obedience class I noticed that the trainer sold an anti-itch product. I had been going to order Renic's Oatmeal Pet Spray but thought I'd try this instead. I rubbed the ointment on Pudge's itchy belly and the back side of her front paws. That was 6 hours ago and she hasn't chewed or itched since. This is a really big deal! The product is called Wounded Warrior skin ointment. It's for people and pets. Has a very informative website. You can by it online and it's in some stores. Expensive at $15.95 for 2oz. but it's working! Wounded Warrior Ointment
  2. Got bird baths? I got rid of the bird baths in my backyard after I caught all 3 of my dogs drinking from it. They normally ignored the birdbaths. All three dogs got severe diarrhea. All 3 got meds and thick stuff poured down their throats to coat the colon, plus Gracie had to stay overnight to get re-hydrated.
  3. Aww, Sheana. Get better soon so your mommy won't have to worry about you.
  4. Ah, Scooter dude, give your mom a kiss. Sending love and prayers from the macoduck family.

    Keeper

    Farewell sweet Keeper.
  6. That will take a long time to heal. And don't be surprised if he bangs his tail and it starts to bleed again. Then you'll be a member of the Happy Tail club.
  7. Update: Vet agreed that antibiotics were in order and that I could use angel Oliver's unused Clindamycin. I am to give her a 20 minute soaking bath every 3 days for 2 weeks. That should be fun considering how much Pudge pouted today: There was a constant banging on the bathroom door by someone who thought she was missing out on a party: And finally, Pudge making her escape: Some other good news - after 1.5 weeks on her diet, Pudge has lost 1.5 lbs. And after having 2 obedience classes so far she was a very good girl at the vet office. If only everyone would stop thinking she's a boy.
  8. You're a good mommy, Lori. Sheana will be OK. Now go kiss baby Ginny's belly for good luck. Did Bill get his stitches removed today?
  9. She was on Iams. Then someone talked me into the Sam's Club brand. She's had these bumps for maybe a month but they increased in size as I began the Sam's Club brand. She's always been an itchy girl since we got her. Prescription meds for allergies make her sick. Benadryl gives some relief. This week I began transitioning all the dogs to Innova. I am only hesitant to take her to the vet right now because I'd like to see if the food change helps. But I don't want Miss Pudge to be miserable either. I have some Clindamycin and Cephalexin. Would either of those help?
  10. No mayflies. Anything that flies in the house is an immediate target for Pudge. She loves to eat flies. A staph infection would cause the pimples? My other 2 dogs don't have these bumpities.
  11. Since I gave her one benadryl 3 hours ago she hasn't chewed or scratched. Vet services are limited here but I am going to try and get her appointment moved up.
  12. My mutt girl Pudge has lots of allergies. The vet has tried assorted medications with no success or else they help somewhat then upset her stomach. Nearly year-round she will chew on the back of her feet, turning the skin red. She also gets these itchy bumps on her tummy only. These are intermittant. They are the size of pimples or mosquito bites. They are only on her belly. I've checked all the dogs for fleas. No sign of fleas or flea dirt. Neither of my greys have these bumps. The only thing that gives her some relief is benadryl. She's got a vet appt. in 2 weeks. I will be making a food change to Innova. Specialty foods aren't easily available here and we won't be doing raw. What would make her break out like this?
  13. Unexplained behavior changes for one. Both my angel Oliver and now Wally are on thyroid meds. Oliver had had some eating/thirst problems and the low levels were seen on the comprehesive lab work. Wally came to us already on the meds. Both had plenty of hair, no bald butts. Oliver's hair was a bit long but not healthy looking. Wally's looks good.
  14. Oliver had a stroke after anesthesia for a teeth cleaning. In reptrospect he might have had a small one the day before and he'd also taken a tumble a week before the cleaning. He was weak when I picked him up at the vet. By the time I got him home he was dragging his front leg much like a human with partial paralysis. We rushed him to the vet. He had to be put down. Oliver was 12. How old is Jill? And sadly, is it time to make the list of things she can no longer enjoy or is she young and strong enough to have a comfortable life?
  15. I forget the name but Oliver frequently had a black scabby thing come up and fall off. And keep saying NO to the dental vaccine. I had to rush Gracie to the emergency vet because she had a reaction to it.
  16. There is much to be learned in the Health and Medical posts. Just don't become a greythypochondriac
  17. I didn't even know there was a one year bordatella vacine until I read it on GT. My vet has given the 6 month vaccine. The vet tech said that the boarding kennels here require the 6 month one. Since I don't plan to board I was able to get Gracie the 1 year vaccine. Which is better or is there no difference?
  18. That is so bizarre. It looks like chicken fat or the marbling in steaks.
  19. I tried googling about underground electricity. http://www.hese-project.org/hese-uk/en/niemr/ehs.php
  20. How you tried leash-walking her around the yard? That might help to pinpoint the spookiest place. IN the meantime, how about giving her some Rescue Remedy?
