  1. How scary! How brave of Sheanna to keep begging for cookies. Here's some more honey. :dogcookie :dogcookie Is Ginny's tummy better today?
  2. My heart goes out to her foster family.
  3. It's OK Major. You will look even more handsome without that toofer. Two years ago Gracie body-slammed Oliver and the side of his head hit the concrete patio. Blood was gushing. It looked worse than it was. The vet was going to try and save O's fang tooth but it fell out easily. Oh, Oliver says you'll be able to keep eating cookies even without that toofer. BJ, I showed Oliver's canine tooth to my dentist - yes it really is huge! - and she drilled a hole in it for me so I could hang it on a chain. I then joked with my vet about saving subsequent removed teeth for matching earrings.

    Starlight Nena

I am so sorry for your loss. We lost Comet (13) to lymphoma as well. The lumps appeared on a Christmas day and he left us 10 days later. It still hurts. If I know my boy, he's coaxing Nena to join him in complaining to the management 'upstairs' that there's no reason not to be given a cookie every 5 minutes.
  5. Poor baby girl Ginny Hmm, didn't you lose a contact lens recently Lori? Ginny's so tiny maybe it's trying to work it's way out. Give her lots of belly rubs for me.
  6. Thanks for the good thoughts everybody. The vet wouldn't let us come in until 3pm today. Oliver had a rough night, just not comfortable laying down. Preferred to huff and puff by my bed. I could definitely tell when the Rimadyl was wearing off. By the time we got to the vet Oliver was putting a bit more weight on the foot but still yelping when he got up/laid down. Vet feels some swelling in the tendons just up from the pad and said it was good I brought him in since he really needed something more than Rimadyl. Oliver is now on Tramadol for a few days. He is very happy to be back home. Very happy to get some food. Very happy to be able to lie down and nap. The first picture is what got Oliver in trouble to start with: Oliver and the Evil Dog Bed doing their nightly battle: This picture is Oliver resting after the vet visit. He never lays like this so the pain meds must have kicked in. Perhaps he is meditating on the spilled kibble inches from his snout. I only wish that our ER vet service was more reliable in quality of service. I wavered on taking him in at 2am but decided it was less stressful for him to wait (especially since there was no swelling). I wish my employer and DH's wouldn't threaten us with firing if I try to call in. The only wish granted that really counted this time was that Oliver will be OK. I sure lubs my old boy.
  7. Thanks everybody. He's tolerating the ice pack. Will give an update in the morning........
  8. No swelling. Will put weight on it. We can manuever the toes/foot/shoulder will no yelp. Fluffing the bed is a nightly routine for him. He lost his balance. No cracking noise then. Listened to him more closely after my first post - crackling noise we hear is his usual creaky self. He's calmer now.
  9. DeVon he finally laid down. He'd been wanting to but couldn't. No swelling. He's had one Rimadyl and 2 doses of Rescue Remedy. Breathing nearly normal. My panic mode is easing. I think a car ride would be too much right now. Please let it just be a strain. He's trying to sleep now. He really scared himself too.
  10. Oliver was "digging' his fluffy dog bed and went a$ over end, yelping. Limping on front paw. Will walk on it slowly. Panting. Won't lay down. Gave him a Rimadyl and Rescue Remedy. DH is holding ice pack on it. Putting cool wet towels so he doesn't over heat. We can hear a 'crackly' noise but we can touch him all over with no yelps. Could it be broke without him yelping? NOt sure if we can get him in car to evet? What to do? eta: he's nearly 13.
  11. Here's a few more pictures I took at Diane's house : I like how the sun and shadows make Babs a brindle. "I'm such a purty gurl. And I don't have nearly enough beds."
  12. My first thought is allergies. Have you used a new carpet/floor cleaning solution? Have you used any chemicals on your lawn?
  13. Lori I was worried about how you were goning to break this Monty. I presume you had to wake him up to tell him? Babs is the sweetest girlie. She let out one bark when I walked in Diane's home but then must have decided that I smelled sufficiently of dog 'cologne' and that I was OK. She forced me to give her massages and ear scritches. OK Diane. I'm sure you're gonna be checking this post out after your night shift. You need to describe your shopping spree and how you accosted a priest in the process........
  14. You describe how all 3 of mine were briefly. It hit Gracie the worst so I took her to the vet. She had to spend the day since she was dehydrated. But the vet gave all of them flagyl and that knocked it right out. Garcie also got some thick liquid tubed down her throat to help her tummy. As best we could figure out, all 3 of them drank out of the bird bath - something I'm never seen them bother with before. The vet's best guess was that it was the "bird bath tea" that got them. No more birdbaths in our yard now.
  15. Please welcome Miss Babs to GreyTalk. Her mom, Diane (seaturtle1), has been lurking for a long time and just this past weekend brought home her new little girl. Until she gets set up with a photo server, I'll share a few teaser pictures with you.
  16. This link will take you to the thread about Oliver's first episode of Vestibular disorder and nystagmus. Scroll down to post #10 for more info: http://forum.greytalk.com/index.php?showtopic=164933 While Oliver has not had any more episodes, typically the syndrome will occur more frequently and for longer amounts of time. With the exception of not having the rapidly shifting eyes, Polly's symptoms are much like Oliver's.
  17. Thinking good thoughts for Dusty and you tomorrow.
  18. So glad to hear Beau is feeling a bit better.
