  1. Pudge le mutt gets bumps because Gracie likes to clamp her mouth on Pudge's head and drag her outside to play. We refer to those as love bumps They've played that way since day one. Gracie gets bumps from mosquito and gnat bites while outside.
  2. Your Duncan and my Oliver crossed the bridge together last night. I'm glad they had each others company on their journey.
  3. I posted a photo farewell to Oliver in Rememberance. Farewell Oliver
  4. It's the little things about the biggest dog in our home that hit me after he was gone. One less food bowl to fill. Having the bathroom to myself without him demanding ear scritches. Having to carry extra bags on our walks cuz by gosh that boy loved to poop on a walk. Touching his nose to his Storm Defender cape to tell me a bad one was coming and to please put it on me Mom - now! The dog beds lie flat without him there to fluff them all up. And now he's gone. Free from pain. In his last hours it was probably a stroke that got him. My boy, Oliver. To his daddy, Sir Oliver Begs a lot. To Gracie and Pudge, big brother. JJ Special Agent 8/1/94-7/2/07
  5. Have emailed Dr Couto for advice. Might or might not be the big bad C. Keep the good thoughts rolling.
  6. Yup, tried the Fresh Factors as well. No acupuncture near here. Chiropractor vet 1 1/2 hours away.
  7. Thanks everybody. I just got home from dropping Oliver at the vet. The vet was shocked to see how much he was limping compared to 2 weeks ago and has finally agreed to do xrays. After the physical exam he said not only did the foot need to be xrayed, but also the shoulder, pelvis and entire spine. As a human xray tech I know what he'll be going through this morning and then the dental after that. If we get lucky and it's just severe arthritis, and knowing that Rimadyl, Tramadol and assorted kinds of glucosamine haven't helped, what else is there to try?
  8. Oliver's scheduled to get his teeth cleaned today. He is nearly 13. However, his front paw injury from a few weeks ago got much worse this weekend plus his occasionally wonky rear end got worse too. I'm not so sure if the vet will do the dental once they see him. Since the Rimadyl and Tramadol have had little effect I will be asking for xrays to be done this time.
  9. I've always heard ( and tried to follow) the suggestion that you make a list of 5 things your dog loves to do. When your dog can't do some or none of them anymore then it's time to let go. I am tearing up as I write this because last night my DH and I wrote up Oliver's list.............
  10. Would Sentinel pills with an expiration date of 2/06 be safe to use? Even my vet has said most meds are OK one year past expiration, but I don't think these are.
  11. Gracie has occasional spells of poop eating. When it happens I put some pineapple juice in everybody's kibble for a few days and that breaks the cycle.
  12. Has anyone heard of or tried this? http://www.ticktubes.com/index.html
  13. Interesting story on a cure for sudden canine blindness: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/...70531094241.htm I found it through this website which had a lot of interesting science articles: http://www.sciencedaily.com/
  14. Oliver is nearly 13 and recently started Rimadyl for arthritis. No side effect problems. However his recent front foot tendon injury (on Tramadol x one week) still makes him limp. Gracie is 7. Injured her shoulder after running. Gave her Rimadyl for 2 days but saw no improvement (but loose bowels) Vet gave her a steroid injection that helped for a few days. Continues to limp but no yelping. I tried another 2 days of Rimadyl and she had diarrhea today. Vet didn't think either dogs' injury needed to be xrayed. Thorough physical exam was done. Should I ask the vet to change to Deramaxx? Would this product work better? What doseage? (Oliver about 80 lbs, Gracie 74 lbs.) Oy! I've got 2 limpy greys and one mutt who just upchucked her dinner (because she ate too fast). Also, have any of you switched from Rimadyl to it's new, less expensive generic form "Novox"?
  15. Here's my post about Gracie's scary reaction to the dental vaccine: http://forum.greytalk.com/index.php?showto...=dental+vaccine I will never, ever, let any of my dogs get that vaccine again.
  16. Oh Marilyn. I am so sorry. So much loss.
