  1. YES!!! I've been telling everyone i know about Rx Clay. we've used it for years
  2. I recently had a Black Foster boy here - he came to me with ticks and I spent several days pulling them off him. I could see them more easily while bathing him. So maybe you could use gentle soap and bath the new one more frequently. Foster boy was adopted and i am now still on the hunt for left over ticks. I have two dark brindles here now and they are a little more difficult to find ticks on: but resistance is futile! i'm diligent and i think i got all the little buggers!!!

  14. So many of you have already posted in the H&M thread - Thank you for your kind words of support!! There is so much more to Lazers story that I really wanted to put it all down - well some of it anyway The first time Lazer came to our home was as a Amber Alert rescue - he has escaped his home and was on the run for 3 days. He was so skittish and untrusting that he just wouldn't let himself be helped. DH and I FOUND HIM 2 BLOCKS from our house. We saved him from getting onto a very busy road that led to the freeway. This was miracle #1. Skinny, scared and hungry we fed him and called his mom who was incredibly thankful we found him. and we just couldn't believe his name was LAZER -- The second time Lazer came to our home, I was asked to help place him and Spirit due to a serious illness in the family. I said sure I'll help, when do you need to place them out? Today! At the time I had 3 of my own, was fostering another greyhound then Spirit and Lazer walked into our lives. LAZER--can't believe his name! From that moment, I knew they would stay with us forever! Lazer was sick from the start. Every Auto-immune thing you could think of was happening to him. And we found out about his terrible teeth/gums..the bacteria that would ravage his body.. the first month was all about Vet apts, dentals and FOOD! he was so skinny -- but soo sweet and we could see his gentle soul was opening to us. So Lazer came to us --- we didn't name him, we didn't pick him. The FREAKY think is DH and I have our own business: Laser Compliance ~ We have our own mascot!!! and obviously we were picked for a reason........... little did we know he picked us - we learned from each other and were blessed with his wisdom In Aug. 2011 Lazer collapsed - many of you know the story from here on,,,, This was Miracle #2. he died in my driveway and I revived him - CANINE CPR YOUTUBE ---- WATCH IT you can save your dogs life!!! at this point we started his life over and I counted, first the hours, then the days and weeks,,, till eventually I thought: He can do this,, we can keep him alive. So many people helped us and him - we didn't do it alone,, and couldn't have made it without our friends and family. He was the miracle boy for everyone. Last Feb. came the initial CHF diagnosis --- I honestly just put it out of my mind. He still had Clots in his heart and other issues that were my focus ---- until Last Aug when the ultra sound showed a huge difference in his heart and the real threat of CHF came front and center --- they said 6-8 months life expectancy we made it 7 months. this after beating all odds for survival in 2011-- and it wasn't right to ask for a third miracle --- This was the notification i sent to my friends and family --- i think it is a fitting end to this story: Lazer lived longer than anyone expected him too. He was always Happy, He NEVER COMPLAINED, he was ultimately trusting! Friday morning we let him go to heaven. I didn't have the right to ask him to stay longer than I already had -- He gave 2 1/2 years of extra life, love and happiness - that was more than anyone expected. Our lives are better for having him with us and we are blessed that he chose to stay in this world with us -- for the time he could give us. He has better places to go -- and the last gift we could give him was the permission to go. our lives will never be the same Forever in our hearts,,, my beautiful brindle boy - Lazer Thank you for letting me tell a little back history we are privileged to have had Lazer in our lives and we will miss him every day! eta: i put the wrong date in the topic
  15. Lazer, Our Sweet boy who NEVER complained once - thru 2+ years of poking and prodding and taking more pills than any human or dog should have too --is now running at the Bridge. he spent a couple hours in an oxygen kennel and they pushed lasix to try and ease the fluid build up - but in the end - it was his time to leave us. His job was done and we let him go on to be pain free. I'm crushed, mad and can't think straight. Thank you all for the support - i'll post in remembrance when i can
  16. rollercoaster - he is back to a bad place. 2 hrs of panting and coughing. his heart is pushing on his wind pipe.. he just can't get comfortable
  17. He just woke up.... wanted outside so he's made it this far and seems better overall. I didn't give him any other meds... I don't underestimate the severity of his issues! And I know we are not out of the woods yet! I'll keep you all posted -- thank you for all your prayers
  18. He was doing ok for a while. Now he can't get comfortable laying down. he can breath panting while standing.... but he can't stand or walk around all night can he. DH and I have differing opinions on the e vet
  19. Put him in an oxygen tent... without the TCL from mom... guess I could call...
  20. Tonight we are watching Lazer go thru really his first difficult breathing "spell" . He has CHF He coughs/pants/wheezes when he lays down so he want's to continue standing and he is so tired that he is a bit unstable standing ,,, also his tongue is blue'ish/grey in color so I know he is NOT getting enough oxygen! I'm trying not to panic, it will be an E-Vet visit if he gets worse.... I'm really wondering if I can give him some Tramadol tonight to calm him,, let him sleep????? or do I let him stay outside in the cool air where he - at the moment - is the most comfortable... and take a wait and see attitude? he is on the usual meds for CHF - vetmedin, plavix, diltiazem, analapril, fuorsimide,, and the research I've been doing isn't giving me any warnings that I shouldn't give tramadol ~~ Anyone awake out in GT land ------ ??? At the moment he is outside in the cool Arizona Dry night. and is actually laying down. When he is standing his, head is pushed forward, neck flat and back is flat. I know this all doesn't sound good, but I think we are just at the start of his acute phase..... and if we can get thru this tonight - tomorrow could be a brighter day thanks lorinda, worried mom
  21. Could it be his eyesight? just a thought hope he feels better soon!
  22. My vet signed that for Lazer... she told us he shouldn't get rabies vaccine. Dr. Venable at Fletcher Heights animal hospital in Peoria. She isn't homeopathic, but does have alternative bent to acupuncture, chiropractic , and worked with me and lazer for the past 2+years when I added holistic supplements and essential oils to his allopathic treatments.
  23. Lavender essential oil in a bucket of warm water and a wash cloth. ..
  24. YES!! my girl Spirit has an ulcer that will not heal ---- however, she was diagnosed as an age related degenerative disease of the epithelial layer of her eye. so basically, not from a scratch, and what is ulcerated now ~ could get worse,, could get better. Spirit is on neomycin/polymyxinB/sulfates and bacitracin zinc. I was told it could take many weeks to heal~we are on week 7 I was told to help the eye heal they could make a serum out of her own blood (it must be refrigerated and thrown away after 5-7 days) we haven't done this yet but am thinking we need too. If this doesn't get the ulcer healed, then a surgery where I think they take most of the epithelial layer off or at the least sort of make the edges of the ulcer fresh so it has the ability to heal....and more drops in hopes that she grows a new layer... I THINK this is close to what they told me. they did not say anything about sewing the eye shut! I am praying not to have to do the surgery option. but Spirit still is squinting and her eye is weeping and she is rubbing it occasionally. so the jury is still out. I was told to give her tramadol if she seems really uncomfortable, and i have done that a time or two. It seemed to make her feel better. Good Luck and i'll be waiting to hear how things go for Legs! I also have a boy with heart issues so I KNOW what you are going thru with surgery options.
