  1. Thank you!!! good points for saving money,, every little bit helps. The transition from Kibble to raw is a jolt on the pocket book for sure, but the benefits are 10000 fold! I won't give up,, I won't surrender! giving raw turkey necks for a meal helps lower the cost as well.. and i do know of a couple butchers close by,, i'm going to inquire with them as well.
  2. I've continued to look and price out raw foods and I've come to the conclusion that what i'm getting for Snickers is about $2.80 per lb. Many other companies break down to much higher cost than this. so, i need to just hang in there for a little while and see if Raw will help Snickers allergies.... which is why i switched to raw in the first place.
  3. I am just getting Snickers started in Raw food. She LOVES it!!! I get my from Suzy's doggie delights and pick it up at the "store front" so I don't have to pay shipping. its $$$$ I figure it will be about $160 a month to feed my allergy ridden little girl. and i'm having a mental breakdown working out the amount to feed and paying the monthly food bill. eta: had to change the total monthly amount to a higher price,, miscalculated the first time so now i'm even more in shock!
  4. Merry Christmas to both of you!!! May you will have many wonderful, healthy, years together! can't wait to see pics!
  5. a little rest and pain pill -- with a nap for the afternoon - sounds like my kind of remedy! feel better Mazy!
  6. Adding my prayers and good thoughts for Mazy and you !!! hoping for a simple, easy fix
  7. My first greyhound broke her back leg at a lure coursing event. It was a complex break, and it healed badly. She limped on it the rest of her life - she did not have Osteo. She was 4 at the time. she did however die from a hemangio-sarcoma at the tender age of 8. I was also told to double and triple check for signs of bone cancer by all my friends and I was really concerned about that - turns out, just a yucky, awful, life changing, bone break. But I did several rounds of X-rays and worried about cancer for at least a year after the event. good luck with the healing!
  8. Was this for the biopsy? When will you know the diagnosis --- I was lucky enough to have "perfect" greyhounds that never messed with stitches. Having the muzzle handy is the easiest way to control licking/chewing. good luck - and keep us posted on results! oh and for Jake when he feels better
  9. Xoxox to sweet Dalton! We'll figure this out and get you back to " normal" rightawayquick!!!
  10. Yes, Spirit and Jake got along greyt!! He was the one I thought about "failing" with!
  11. I had to say good by to my sweet Spirit on tuesday It was so sudden, it's just unbelievable that in just a couple short months she went from crazy, zooming, donut-twirling girl, to a stumbling, tripping, falling, incontinent failing body!! Lumbosacral stenosis came on fast and took away her dignity. I don't want to remember her the way she left this world, instead I will remember and I hope to soon be able to laugh and cherish the memories of her running, spinning and tossing her toys and asking for treats using her "indoor" voice so not to wake up the whole house at 5am! She is running with Lazer now, and I am for the first time without a greyhound to call my own in 18 years! I actually have a foster here for a few days who is helping to dry the tears.... but it's just not the same is it? The house is quiet without you here Spirit,,, i will never forget!
  12. how much Duralactin do you give 68lb greyhound? I'm need to try this for Spirit who is having hind end weakness and pain from LSS
  13. You gave the ultimate loving gift of passing... Don't remember the way Poodle left - REMEMBER THE WAY POODLE LIVED!!!!! I'm sorry for your loss!
  14. hope he can come home soon - everything is better with love from mom!!!
  15. Medical Grade Essential Oils, used topically will eventually get rid of the ringworm,, it does take time tho ---- Lavender, Melaleuca, melrose - any of these can work at ridding the fungus. apply directly to the lesion as long as it isn't too close to any private parts or your eyes. check with your mid-wife before using on yourself,,,,, i'm not a dr.
  16. Judy --- sorry you and Chase are now dealing with this. you need a good luck and keep us posted on what your vet says later today!!!
  17. It does just break our hearts all over again doesn't it! Confirmation is always a comfort,, that you did all you could possibly do, for them and for you. I'm sorry for your loss ----- i'm still so sad for loosing Lazer --- but I am put at pease knowing : no stone was un-turned no curtain was pulled back,, no consultation went ignored.. as I'm sure you are! we,,,, BOTH of us,, did all we could for our much LOVED ones. It's always tooooooo soon for them to go --- My life was changed knowing, loving and taking care of Lazer --- i'm willing to bet yours was too, with Nadir. i hope you both rest in peace with the knowledge of what the report holds. Love never changes, it is un-ending and stays in our hearts forever. in memory of Lazer and Nadir have some cyber chocolate on me! it usually helps ,, just a little
  18. All I can add is this: I've never regretted letting one go a day too early,,,, but I do beat myself up over the day too late! Only one of mine "TOLD" me it was time. it came into my brain like thunder and we went for a drive. Others have had progressions and I've chosen the time and it was always the right thing to do. I was only hours late with one, and I wish I had listened to my inner voice. Such an personal/individual dog thing. I'm sorry you are having to think about this,, but it only proves how much you love your baby and are thinking the very best for them,,, giving them the final gift of goodbye is never easy
  19. Your love and perseverance has given him the courage and strength to come back and enjoy life again! Congratulations to you all!!! hope he gets extra xoxo everysingletimeyouwalkby!
  20. Desert Defense has the dosage on the package, i really don't remember what i did --- it has a strong smell that I personally thought smelled good - herbs and spices,, but my dogs didn't like it so had a tough time getting them to take it on a regular basis. The anti-fungal was from Systemic Formulas called FungDx - It is not an overthecounter type supplement. you'd have to find someone to purchase it from. But there are other anti-funal supplements out there. i'd just research some and Talk to your vet- find a holistic one if possible and go from there. As far as dosing - I started with 3 pills a day for my 80lb boy Lazer. We went to 2 pills a day and his titer stayed down. I also did a lot of other supplements, basically put my boy thru a full Detox regime that made a huge difference in how his internal organs functioned. getting rid of toxins was a big thing for him: healing his kidneys (PLN) and controlling his CHF lorinda
  21. I just wrote this in the other thread - but I'll repeat it here too Desert Defense is a powder additive to food that will help the immune system and might bring the titer down. And I was able to keep Lazer's titer very low (1:2) for 2 years using an Anti Fungal herbal supplement. his titer was never very high, so it was easy to keep it at the low numbers.
  22. Here in AZ, Valley Fever is a real issue. There is a product called Desert Defense that is a powder additive that will help keep immune system strong to fight off the onset of VF. It wouldn't hurt to try that for a while to see if the titre comes down. Also --- I kept my boy, Lazer's, VF titer down to 1:2 for years using herbal supplements and specifically Anti Fungal supplements. *** Lazer's titer was never high and keeping it low was easy - as for Fluconizole, If you compound a generic form it's usually cheaper, either thru RoadRunner or Diamond Back. They mail the prescription to you, makes it easy! Good luck - VF is not something to mess around with - i hope you can get it under control soon.
  23. Beautiful words for a beautiful soul that touched us all!!! I'm sorry it was her time to go ~
