  1. I am glad things are looking a little better! I understand the wanting him to come home for however long he has. I hope it is a good long time!
  2. I know it is hard, and stressful, but sometimes you have to do a little tough love. He will forgive you (actually, he'll probably forget all about it!) and in a few days things will be much better. The bellyband with a maxipad is a good idea, much easier clean up
  3. Wow, that is a nasty break! The repair job looks good It is so hard the first few days, we can't get them to understand that it is ok to pee in the house in these special circumstances! Hope his recovery continues to be rapid
  4. Great news! I am sure he will be happy to be home.
  5. When I had the x-pen set up for Sallie, I covered the floor space with washable pee pads, then an old dog bed covered in old towels. I braced the pen on the outside with some small heavy things so it would tip or move when she bumped into the sides. Agree with the others, don't try to use the built in gate, open one whole panel.
  6. Great news on the surgery! I think the x-pen/crate plan sounds good. Hoping he makes a quick and uneventful recovery
  7. That's a huge relief! You might start with an x-pen and move him to the crate when he gets more active. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help, now or later!
  8. I am glad you are consulting with Dr Couto, he is a wonderful person. It could be "just" a break, and I hope it is, but you want to be sure. I don't want to scare you, but I was told Sallie's was "just" a broken leg, but Dr C (and my own vet) saw the osteo right away What ever happens, do NOT blame yourself! You have taken as good care of Jake as anyone possibly could, sometimes accidents happen.
  9. The supplements are worth a try. They may do nothing, but they might help. My arthritis is (so far) pretty mild, and I have found some supplements that help, some that don't, and the same for the dogs.
  10. Could he be cold? A couple of mine have been very temperature sensitive would/will pace and whine at night if they are cold.
  11. Oh WOW! He is stunning! Congratulations. I think the picture above shows a pretty typical comparison of greyhound v galgo. One alert and ready for whatever comes next, the other asleep in bed fail
