  1. Weird... our one hound Sidney only whines for our neighbor?!
  2. This is a fantastic report! Thanks for letting us all know. It's great to hear success stories? Go Sid!
  3. I was adamant about coats on the dogs below 40 at first. June seems fine with coats... Sidney seems annoyed. Now if it's a quick potty break I let it go and let them out without the coats. Tonight it's 16 here... I'll probably put the coats on for their 10 PM potty break.
  4. So sorry Chris Run Sequoia, run!
  5. Oh that's great! Thanks for the update. Nice to hear he's doing better and not in pain
  6. Thanks for the reminder... my sister uses those E-cigarettes. I'll make sure when she is over they are very much out of harms way.
  7. Horray for Sid being home! Hope he heals quickly. It's tough trying to not have them walk and move around much.
  8. Great news! Thx for the update! We all worry when a hound goes in for surgery on here. Hopefully he will realize he's not in pain anymore and will begin to walk normal again.
  9. Fingers crossed this is successful and Sid is his usual tripod self again! Way to be an awesome mom
  10. Wanted to update you all... I've been doing the fist approach. Seems to be working well. I wait until she gently is nosing/sniffing my hand before I open it. And she's been gently taking the treat. Thanks for the great advice gang! Always good advice here
  11. Our June is a little "ferocious" when taking treats from you. She goes at them almost in a frenzy and ends up biting fingers a lot of times. I'm not really sure how to deal with this since usually you use treats for a lot of training LOL Any ideas?
  12. Im so sorry. Run free Ike.
  13. Thx everyone for the kind words.... Tho Oscar wasn't mine, I've known him for several years, seen him grow, and he was the first greyhound I ever met. I will definitely pass along your sentiments to her.
  14. My good friend, the friend that made me want to adopt greyhounds, lost their greyhound Saturday to Lymphoma. When I first met her and her husband, they had two greyhounds... Ice and Oscar. This was 5 years ago. They are what made me want to adopt them! Oscar died Saturday.... He came so far since I've known him. He was very people shy when I first met him. The last time I saw him he came over for a play date with my hounds. He was sweet and affectionate. This was about 2 months ago. I feel lucky to have known Oscar.... He was a great greyhound and a sweetheart. I wish my friend peace during this difficult time.
  15. My eyes just got misty reading your post. Find comfort in their memories.
  16. Thanks for the advice! I don't know if I will ever enroll them anywhere but it's good to know how to look into it.
  17. Agility classes sounds awesome. I would love to get into these but I don't know how to even go about it? How do you find classes by you? Anyway, good luck! And have fun
  18. Interesting..... What if their food is fish-based? We use a dry food that has Herring, Salmon and whitefish protein.... As well as Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids. Would this matter like fish oils?
  19. @ silverfish and others... I hear what you are saying. I can completely see that. Our last dog absolutely loved parties. She was a social butterfly. Obviously these 2 are totally different dogs with different needs. We may have to keep our parties to a minimum and keep them to small guest lists. Thx for the feedback gang.
  20. When we are out on a walk, etc, he is extremely social... walks right up to people (men and women) to say hello. I am almost wondering if he's gotten territorial now in the house? Regardless, we will be careful if and when others come over. I think it was a little too much for him with all the men around.
  21. Funny thing is, no one raised their voice, or were making any sudden moves. Everyone was pretty chilled out and were mellow.
