  1. Interesting about the LP-LS link. I had LS with Kasey and he certainly got into panting a lot as he aged,(although I was assured he didnt have LP). I'm seeing the same with Ryder regarding increased panting and the LS creeping in. I know you can help the muscle in a leg through some exercise and meds, but no idea how to support a muscle in a throat.
  2. I asked about this at my vet the other day. Not available in Canada!! He absolutely loves the product though so you guys are on the right track. Maybe next year one of you guys can buy two and ship one over to me!
  3. Oh I have had to deal with this, twice on two different greys. It's quite an interesting bandage procedure that requires figure 8's and bandaging right up to the tail and around the hips with zero guarantee of any of it staying on! The thing I find the worst about this is the dried blood on the fur, and that's what actually gets them to start licking, because it's pulling and tugging on the fur. Not sure if you are able to shave the fur off around the wound. If your hound is sedentary most of the time, that's really the only time I would leave some gauze on there and bandaging for it to heal, otherwise it might be best to just leave it open. If you have any colloidal silver, it really helps the healing time, or the Ouchless Bandaid liquid for flushing. Keep it clean, keep him from moving about a lot and you should see some crusting eventually. You should however help him flex it gently over the next week as well, you don't want this area to get stiff and develop any kind of scar tissue making it tough for mobility. I have often thought about liquid bandage but I think it's pretty difficult to use with fur so I never bought any. Scritches. Edit: I happened to find this. While this is probably too tight to fit for a wound, it might be pretty handy? https://www.ortocanis.com/en/technical-helps-for-dogs/90-dog-knee-brace.html Maybe you can cut up a stretchy sweater?
  4. Thank you for the followup. What a frustrating situation!
  5. This certainly doesn't sound great. Hang in there. Is taking him to emerge for something like this an option? Same thoughts, exact same time. A full ER facility might have this available for you. Smaller clinics around here don't even have x-ray machines, so perhaps go that route to one that is better stocked. Your poor boy.
  6. Dremel. Not worth the risk for clipping IMO and then the dog expects to be hurt the next time you approach with the clippers and you will be met with more and more resistance each time. Pawdicures are way more relaxing.
  7. This is wonderful, and I think you have refined your niche market. Way to go!
  8. Treats that just happen to fall out of your pockets while she is nearby is a wonderful thing.
  9. I was told that because Kasey came to me with a skin-tear that if he ever had another one it wouldn't be covered. Thank you insurance policy. I cancelled and put the money into a monthly savings account and I haven't looked back.
  10. I forgot about this anomaly. Try cooking something else! Pronto lol
  11. It's funny how one little thing sets them off, right? What kind of a sound did it make? Sometimes it might have been an action just before you lit it as well, so it can be tough to pinpoint. My boy HATES noises so I can relate, but you are doing the right things to get her back on track. Just need some time to get her acclimatized to it.
  12. Pred can cause dogs to drink a lot and gain weight. My boy was on it for a long time and did neither, mind you he wasn't a big eater and he didn't lose much either. I'm unfamiliar with Budesonide, or the B12, or how these all might interact with eachother. How much exercise is he getting (enough to offset the food intake)?
  13. Wow. Cool experience - watching the vid I mean. I have no suggestions, but others might. Age of your pup?
  14. Hmmmm. I have given gatorade during hikes but i'm not sure if its good to give on a long term basis. This is rather puzzling though. Keep monitoring him and keep us updated. Scritches!!
  15. Owned greyhounds for years and still learning from wonderful knowledgeable folks. I have no comments but hope you figure it out soon!
  16. Usually brushing starts 2 weeks after a dental. Might be a bit too soon. Which tooth is the troublesome one? Might not have been removed because it could have been too problematic to do so (i.e. canine and lower jaw fracture)
  17. Well it's Wednesday, and you had originally said he won't be seen until Saturday, which is a long time to only have water through food. Let us know how he's doing tomorrow after the vet. Good luck!
  18. Wow, military efficiency - that's a well oiled machine right there.
  19. No water intake at all is rather serious. Dehydration can lead to organ failure. Is the skin at the back of his neck tenting? What color are his gums, and how long do they take to get from white to pink when you apply thumb pressure? What color is his pee? Is he weak?
  20. Just thinking, can your hubby just let him out when he's up and put him back in? Not to have you consider yet another change of routine, but wondering if that's a potential option/solution going forward.
  21. Is this after just one or two laps of water or is this when he's drinking a large amount at one time?
  22. Mmhmm, plus the stress. He also hasn't really eaten much. Give it another 24 hours.
  23. Alright, I totally need to find some scrubs and dress up Ry now!
