That's what I have been told by my dog's vet when I needed to get Breeze x-rayed for a limp. Because it was her hip in question, the vet needed to manipulate the joint to get the best picture.
He's been through a lot of changes in the last 24 hours as macoduck said. So maybe he is a little nervous and just needs to get used to his new surroundings. Also, if you are nervous, he may be sensing that as well. Relax, he will adjust day by day.
I brush our greys' teeth with Tropiclean tooth gel for dogs. They also get a Milkbone dental chew in the morning and greenies after dinner. No problems with chewing or choking. They love both of them, and their tooth gel too!
Breeze just had a hard lump on her neck last week- the size of a golf ball. It was an abcess and the vet drained it and put her on antibiotics. Hopefully Bernie's lump is that simple!
agreytday, we adopted from Greyhound Welfare, which is based in Maryland in the Washington DC suburbs. I have a friend who adopted from Greyt Expectations and she had a really good experience with them too.
Hello and welcome from Maryland. What an exciting time! It's great that you have been researching the breed and spending time at meet and greets to see what greyhounds are like. Aren't they wonderful?
When we chose an adoption group we went with one that fosters the dogs first - that way you have an idea of their personality, whether they are cat and small dog safe (important to know when going out and walking your grey) and they also get an introduction to living in a home.
Where in Virginia do you live? Best of luck to you in the next steps of your adoption journey!
The Voyager K9 Apparel coat mentioned above is excellent. Our dogs wear that one in cold weather and they also have a fleece coat with a snood when the temps are in the high 40's. When it is really cold and we will be outside for a while, like in the dog park early on Saturday mornings, I put the fleece coat under the K9 Apparel coat.
