  1. I fostered Diamond brother Count. I thought about keeping him but honestly 2 of the same were more than I cared to take on. They are both on the needy side Anyway, I'm lucky that I get to have Count (and his adopted fur sister) over one weekend a month (my visitation as Counts parents call it). While I love Count to death, he's still too much like Diamond so a weekend is about all I can take with them both. Also, they don't care about each other. They do bicker with each other although not as much as when Count lived with us.
  2. When I dropped Lucky off, the vet tech brought me into a room and went over a couple of things. Then she said the vet would come in to talk to me. I was shocked. This is a new vet for me but at other clinics the vet has never met with me before a dental. I've brought at least 30 fosters to vets and never once. He met with me and gave Lucky an exam. Poor Lucky was shaking so bad. The vet went over the dental with me. He explained what they would do and which drugs they would use. He said they will monitor his blood pressure and body temp the entire time. I was trying not to cry when I left but I felt so much better after talking with the vet. He told me to call with any questions and they will call me when he's awake. He said Lucky is his only client today ================ Update: I couldn't wait any longer so I called just to see if they were done with the dental. They put me on hold and the vet answered. Again shocked! He said he just got done and Lucky was starting to wake up. No teeth removed and they looked good once they were cleaned up He said he will call me in a few hours to let me know how he's doing. OMG-I love this vet. He totally knew how to deal with my anxiety.
  3. Lucky has his dental today, please keep him in your thoughts. He's at work with me now but he doesn't want to help me work
  4. I'm not too worried but it's in the back of my mind. Lucky has his dental tomorrow. Him, I'm worried about. He had a rough time waking up after his neuter.
  5. I don't think I want to lay on this carpet at work Everyone here loves here.
  6. My foster, Lena has her dental today. Good thoughts please. She's currently being a very good girl at work. ========================= Update She lost 1 tooth. They said it was a good thing I brought her in, it was abcessed. She was happy to see me. We got home and I got her canned food for dinner. She was bouncing all over the place, excited to eat (normal behavior for her). I never would have guessed she'd been under today. She didn't act groggy at all. Thanks for all the good thoughts. Now I need them today for my boy Lucky
  7. Y- I'm sorry for your loss. I'm sorry I never got to meet him. Hugs to you and Kevin
  8. Sparks was my first and I got very lucky. He was perfect. I always say that if Passion had been my first, I never would have adopted another. She's alittle high maintence
  9. Usually the growling here happens in the bedroom and I'm half asleep so I yell at them to knock it off. It's usually Diamond being an a@ss and standing over Lucky trying to take his bed. Lucky is the one growling and he should be. I'm yelling at Diamond to knock it off but I'm sure Lucky thinks I'm yelling at him too. Diamond doesn't always move either so then I have to get up and move his stubborn butt.
  10. I'm sorry your girls got into a fight. I would just muzzle them if they are together when you aren't home. Passion has space aggression and bit Sparks a few years ago when he was walking past her minding his own business. Now they are all muzzled when I'm not home.
  11. I just got a sad email from a dear friend. She had to send her beloved Hannah to the bridge tonight. Hannah was my foster in 2005. I picked her up the week before my dad died and she was part of the reason I was able to stay sane right after his death. I fostered her for a couple of months when a couple wanted to meet her. They fell instantly in love with her, adopted her and I gained some dear friends. Hannah only had 1 eye but that never stopped her. Her parents loved her and spoiled her rotten. We have stayed in touch over the years and get together as often as possible. They live about an hour from me so it wasn't always easy to see them. I haven't seen Hannah for a few years but I always got updates from her mom. A few years ago, she hurt her back and was having trouble walking. They build her a ramp to help her get outside. She was on daily pred and spoiled rotten. Yesterday, her back gave out and she couldn't walk. They decided to send her to the bridge to run with my Sparks. They are both painfree and running together again. Run Free Sweet Hannah- you were the best foster and will hold a special place in my heart. Hannah on the right with her sister Deb
  12. I would teach him stairs and move the crate into your bedroom so you (and your neighbors) can sleep. When I foster, I end up having to move the crate in my room for my sanity. I can't stand barking Good luck
  13. Get one of these http://www.daveengraves.com/daveengraves_020.htm Mine have been wearing them for the last few years and nothing had gotten caught
  14. Happy Birthday brother Miss you, your sissy Passion
  15. It's colder in MN than Chicago and last winter I didn't use coats for the first time. Guess what....they grew more fur and were just fine.
  16. Would you please tell Passion that? I need to bubble wrap that girl!!
  17. Long, long ago, I co-owned a sled dog racing kennel. We had a break out of canine lice. It was horrible to get rid of. We think it was from the straw/haw. I got the heebie jeebies and was itching all the time
  18. I just use ivermectin from the feed store Also my hounds are blood donors so get more exams during the year than normal. The bottle cost about $40 bucks and will last a few years.
  19. There's actually a frosty paw shortly right now. They usually donate to our picnic but last week they emailed and said due to a shortly, they can't donate to the picnic this year. It's cheaper to make your own
  20. Never heard of this before nor do my hounds or fosters do it
