  1. I am so, so sorry for your loss. JJ sounds like he was a wonderful fellow, and was obviously meant to be with you.
  2. Run free, beautiful Allie. Love that captures the heart and touches the soul remains forever. Hold the special memories close to your heart.
  3. Just revisiting this topic.... Nixon and Ruby are 'fast eaters', but Nigel, our newest boy, is the biggest 'wolfer' I have come across in all our years of owning dogs. Wetting his food has not helped. At all. The 'slow feeder' bowls are very expensive here in Ontario...if you can even find them. The other day we were cleaning closets and I came across some hockey pucks left over from DH's coaching days. And tonight I tried putting one in their bowls and it made a huge difference. Tomorrow I will try two!!
  4. .... from the 'other side' of Ontario! My hounds did not come from GRA either. We also chose a more 'local' group that could offer us lots of support. I look forward to hearing all about your new hound. And don't forget...we have and will need lots of pictures!!!

  7. Belly band with boxers...pin the boxers to the belly band? Poor poor Sam.... How is he this morning??
  8. Oh...I am so, so sorry for the loss of your Emma. Love that captures the heart and touches the soul remains forever. Hold those special memories of Emma close to your heart.
  9. Are you SURE it wasn't a tick? Ticks are small and black and move pretty darn fast. They are also hard to kill.
  10. Your in vet school and asking this board about a medical condition? I am a little confused about this, too. I am in Ontario and we walk for an hour or more every day, no matter the temps, unless like today there is a blizzard, with high winds and heavy blowing snow. My dogs all have coats (+ hats if needed) and they do not mind it at all.
  11. Oh Stacy...I am SO happy to read this positive report. I bet he just sails right through his weekend 'tests' and will be well on his way to being anxiety-free.
  12. Handsome boy...and I love 'Enzo' as a name. I have Grandkids.. 5 and 3.. who visit a a couple of times a month, and they get along just fine with our Greys. None of my dogs like to 'play'. Nigel will catch a stuffie, but then all he wants to do it chew and squeak it. Nixon is pretty reserved and will just remove himself upstairs to his bed if the kids get a bit noisy. Ruby only came her in August and has barked at them a couple of times when they've stepped into her space on her bed, but now we're all aware of this issue and the kids steer clear of her if she's on her bed. She's fine when she's standing up and likes to be walked on her leash around the house by the 5 year old. She has never done this with DH or myself...just the kids. Nigel has only been here a month and the kids have only met him twice. He's very quiet and laid back...I think he'll be like Nixon, and just remove himself upstairs if things get too hectic. Sounds like you've done your homework and are working with a good Group...I'm sure the kids and dogs will be fine together. Keep the pictures coming....
  13. Mine get a 1000mg capsule twice a day. I just toss them in with their kibble and they gobble them right up.

  15. All three here are on Kirklands Lamb & Rice. Nigel just arrived here a month ago and he was not on it, but has transitioned over to it very well. Also fed it before I had Greyhounds ... to our GSD, Dobe and PointerX ... and everyone has done well on it. However...many dogs ...not just Greyhounds... react differently to foods. I think I have been extremely lucky over the years to have had dogs that do very well on an inexpensive food. And to us that it continues
  16. Yup! Good for tummy grumbles. I always save the end crusts from a loaf for the dogs snacks!
  17. I slide my entire right hand/wrist...up to my forearm...right through the loops of all leashes. Then I grab the leashes with my left hand, placing the two dogs on my left side and off we go. None of mine are spooks or bolters, but this way, the leashes are 'attached' to me with my arm through the loops, and held in my hand. Now I'm taking three dogs, I still have my right hand/arm through all three loops. I hold Nigel & Ruby's leashes in my right hand and lace them on my right side and grab Nixon's leash in my left and he walks on the left. They all walk along just fine like this.
  18. So very sorry for your loss. What a face.....
