  1. I will do that Monday evening. Thanks for asking, tbhounds.
  2. Wow, my head is spinning with all the technical information. I am not well-versed at all on thyroid situations anyway, let alone a canine. I really did not grasp most of what was written, but that it is very important to get a full panel (which she did) and get a TSH (which she did). However, I really do appreciate all the effort, care, and consideration from each and every post. I thank you so much. So I will print out all the posts and study them singularly and read them over and over to get it down somehow. Forgive the ignorance. The paper work Dr. Whitlow gave me is very informative on sight hounds and thyroid conditions. I am glad to read above that Greyhounds are notorious for low T4 and that Sophie is not out of the ordinary. I am also very glad that this is not life threatening. I could not take another blow just now. Dr. Whitlow wants to do another panel in 3 weeks and then 3 months and then every 6 months to monitor Sophie's levels.
  3. Hello and thank you everyone for the replies. I actually left the vet without getting a copy of her readings. Arrrggg. He prescribed 0.6 mg of Levothyroxine to be administered twice per day. She had a physical exam and a general senior profile. He said he did a TSH on Sophie although it is not specifically listed on the bill. I will get a copy of her readings today.

  5. I had a full profile of blood work done on Sophie. My vet just called me at my office to say that her thyroid levels are so low they are immeasurable. He will give her Levothyroxine where I will administer 2 tablets per day. Everything else in her blood work looks perfect. I will talk to him after work today. Has anyone else had any experience with hypothyroid levels so low? I appreciate it.
  6. My Sophie had a full profile of blood work, and she has thyroid levels so low that they are immeasurable. My vet called me at my office a few minutes ago to let me know. He is going to give her Levothyroxine where I will administer 2 tablets per day. I will go in after work to talk to him. I was just wondering if anyone has had experience with such an extreme hypothyroid level. Everything else with her blood work looks perfect for her. Thanks so much.
  7. I have never had this problem. What if you gave both of them the same raw hide and they both were too busy chewing their own that they did not notice the other had one?
  8. I would tend to agree with Sambuca. Maybe he does not need such a long walk. I had this very same thing with my former two girls - both of them. They too did not want to walk so long in the am after I had had them a little while. I walked them about 20 minutes in the am after that, and they seemed happy with that. They did all their business and never had any accidents in the house. THat is my experience anyway. Good luck.
  9. Oh I forgot about the moles. We have trouble with moles. I like the brick idea. I have tried to keep an eye on her when I am not playing with her and getting her to run around the yard. She likes privacy when she poops. It is funny, I have had a few like that over the decades with Greys. So I go inside so she can have her privacy but peek out the window. She has not done it the past two days. Maybe she is just curious of the new yard of hers. My Bella used to demand privacy when she pooped. She would even look back at the house to make sure I was not looking at her out the window. she would check all the windows to see if I dared to look at her. She would hide behind the deck in the backyard as well. She was such a little princess. So funny. But she always had to come check me out when I was in the bathroom myself. Funny so funny.
  10. I think any animal whether domesticated or wild would defend itself if attacked by another animal. Even I would fight back if an animal attacked my face. It was just self defense. Also, you other dogs were just defending their fellow pack member or family member. It could be that the cat was rabid or sick.
  11. Sophie has a new trick. I found two big holes where she dug right at the fence. She actually dug right at the bottom of the fence but not "through" the bottom as yet. I covered the holes and packed them down. Now we do live out in the country and it is a huge back yard. Behind the fence is a vast wooded area. We have deer, coyote, rabbits, raccoons, and other creatures around the country. Do you suppose that she hears the animals and wants to investigate them? My question is as to what to do about the digging? Should I put pepper or another substance around the perimeter of the fence to deter her from digging? Any suggestions are appreciated.
  12. I am soooo sorry for the loss of your precious Gracie. What a beautiful girl. Thank you for sharing all the loving memories and photos and wonderful videos. See you soon dear girl, Gracie.
  13. Such a sudden shocking loss. I am so sorry for your hurt and that she was snatched away from you. Watch over mama, GracieGirl.
  14. It was funny. Bella would always get up early with me for her walk before I would go to work. However, on the weekends, she somehow knew I would be staying home and she would sleep in with me!!! Angel would do the same as she followed Bella. During the week days, I was up at 4:30 am to go run the 2-mile bridge. I was home by 6:30 am. As soon as my car pulled into the garage, she got out of bed to meet me at the door for her morning walk (yawning and doing the Greyhound stretches). After her morning walk, I would shower and get ready for work (leaving her in my nice big comfy bed going back to sleep). Angel would follow Bella's lead on things - she laid on the bed after the morning walk to go back to sleep like a princess too. On the weekends, I never ran as I took weekends off. They would sleep in with me like snug bugs in the rug. Since I only lived about 12 minutes from work, I was more than able to come home everyday and take my girls out for their afternoon walks. Then when I got home around 5:30 pm, we would go for our early evening walks. A final "night-time wee wee" at 9 pm ended the day. I kept it regular and the girls did just fine with it. On the weekends, they knew it was "fun time". I would take them out in the car and go to the beach, the river, or to a lovely park. We had a great life.
  15. What a wonderful tribute to Hailey. Her pictures capture her loving, happy, playful, and intellegent personality. Your family adored her and she stole their hearts. She was a beautiful girl and you were so gifted to have shared life with her. I am so sorry for your hurt right now. Your time with her was too short. She came into your life the same time Bella came into mine and was almost the same age. However, what time she did spend with you, she sure did make the most of it. Hailey dear, watch over your loving family from above. Keep the children, mom, and dad comforted in the sweet warm memories of you.
  16. I am so sorry you lost your sweet wonderful Dreamy. Run Free Dreamy.
  17. I am so sorry for your loss of this sweet girl.
  18. Beautiful baby. Beautiful brother.!!
  19. My sweet little Angel went to the Rainbow Bridge a year ago today. She died of complications from a freak accident - stroke and throwing clots - and went down so fast. Within 6 days she was gone. I love you little girl and still grieve for you terribly. You were a perfect Angel who put everyone before yourself. A perfect lady were you. Your sister Bella would push her way in front of you to get loving first, but you waited to get the "best for last" lovings. Your coat was so velvety soft and warm. You were a quiet and shy girl who had an inner strength that amazed all of us. Bella actually leaned towards your leadership even though she thought she was boss. I miss you so much and I look out over the large yard today and remember so vividly you and Bella chasing each other and resting in the grass together. Now your sister Bella is with you, and I am so broken and wrenched to be without you. Please watch over me sweet little Angel. I love you so much!! I wish you could come back to me.
