  1. I agree! My girls never kissed me that much. I love the kisses. Great post.
  2. Sorry I don't have any thoughts or advice, but I do want to say I just LOVE the name Pop!! I would love to keep that in mind if I ever adopt a sweet boy.
  3. When I leave the house, I always say this to the girls, "Hold the fort down". They immediately KNOW that when I say that, they are staying home while I am going out. They are content with that. I have been using that term for 17 years and it works like a charm. So a word or sentence that signifies that she is staying in while you are going out may help her realize that it is time to stay.
  4. What was it that caused her to snap at your son? If she is already used to going on the couch or bed/ she most likely has associated these places as her places of refuge - not places of privileges. These are parts of her home and safety. She does not know that you feel they are privileges. Do you have a nice big comfy dog bed for her to retreat to?
  5. Jersey is a beautiful girl!! Congrats. It sounds like you two have really formed a tight bond already. Enjoy her so much.
  6. What a beauty. Thank you for sharing the lovely pics of Dulcie with your cat. Precious. My girl would sleep on the couch with my cat together too.
  7. More pics please of this beautiful boy!! Not to sound selfish.

  15. Yes, he was a Wirehaired Foxterrier - my parents favorite breed. He was like a little human - so smart and so devoted. I thank you all so much for your kind thoughts and condolences.
  16. I am so so very sorry, Kathy, that you lost your love and baby Rex. What a devastation. Please know there are so many who feel your pain and are praying for you now.
  17. While I am visiting my parents today in South Florida, they lost their sweet precious boy - Albert Von Russle ("Bertie"). It was very sudden and the vet just could not revive him. We are all so heart broken. Please pray for mom and dad as they have had Bertie for 11 years and were so attached to him. Till we meet again sweet Bertie - We love you so so much! We miss you so!!
  18. Yep! Just as I thought. They have federally forced Bayer-Advantix line to dumb down their formulas. It is happening with EVERYTHING now. And I mean everything. I feared this would happen when other products went down. Now Advantix. Too amazing.
  19. Yes it was attached - that is why I used the match in the first place. However, I was suprised as I have never had this before - especially only five days after the monthly application. I called Advantix company and they stated that unfortunately it happens sometimes where they get attached.
  20. Bella came in the house with a tick on her head. I touched its butt wiith a hot blown out match. It died. I took it off with tweezers. I am mad. I hope the companies have not been federally forced to dumb down the formulas. My vets have always told me that the chemical will REPEL the ticks away from the skin - or they will die and fall off. I have never seen a tick on any of my dogs using Advantax or Frontline. I changed from Frontline to Advantax about 6 years ago. This is scary. Truthfully, do the ticks attach first to the skin and then fall off? That is not what I have been told by my vets over the years.
  21. That would actually be the greatest idea and I would love it, but I do not know anyone here in my area that could do it. No one at church is experienced with dog sitting and it is short notice if I found anyone now. When Sandy has the dogs go out for their "outing" time in the yard, she only lets them out one dog at a time. Or in the case with my girls, they went out together - just the two of them. But she does have girls there that play with them and cuddle with them on their outings. I call to check on her. Too bad you are in Texas, I would ask you to take her.
  22. Bella has been scared of big and medium size dogs since we lived in Florida. When we lived there, I would take them on walks every day. A couple of times when I took her and her sister for walks, a woman who lived in a house at the end of the street would let her dogs sit on the front lawn with no collars or leashes. I could not see them until we walked right in front of the house. They would chase and growl and bark at Bella and Angel. Bella got so scared; she would not go out for walks for a few days. Angel never seemed to be that concerned. I called the animal authorities after a couple of times. They came by, and a few months, no dogs outside. Then out of the blue, there they were again. One day the woman moved out, and no dogs at all. Bella could go on walks, but was still afraid of big dogs. When I take her to the vacation pet spa, she is afraid when hearing the dogs inside barking, whooping, and hollering when a new dog would arrive. But Angel would be her strength and help her cope for the first hour or so being there. Now that Angel is gone, Bella is alone. A few days ago, for the first time since Angel crossed over, we took Bella there as we went out of town, and she was shaking, whining, and not wanting to go in. Sandy said that once the dogs settled down, she did well. We are planning on going on vacation next week and have her reserved there. My vet suggested a dose of 10mg of valium the morning I take her in. Any thoughts?
