  1. My Angel baby went in for a biopsy, or (Cytology Antech as it is stated on the bill), and she said she sees no sign so far of malignancy nor mast level 2. She is sending off the slide to the lab to get a 100% accuracy for us. It is a pink soft bump that is 1 cen. in size. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.
  2. Oh thank you so so much for this. This post should be on all the threads for a reminder. You are so right. Even the hot sand on the beach is awful. Ground should be checked with bare feet. If I cant handle it, she cant handle it! Thank you.
  3. I have had this rarely when one of my babe's stomachs were upset. They would poop the "pudding poop" for a few days. Any extra stress or change would do it. One time I painted the interior of my home and had to move furniture all over the place to paint from room to room. My one girl pooped like that for a week!! It always went away. I now have one really shy girl who is a little bit of a spook but so sweet. She does this when something is really different in her world. I add a little bit of cooked rice, millet, or oatmeal to the food to give it a binder. It helps. Sorry I could not give any useful advice. Good luck.
  4. I so know what you are feeling. You can let it out here. Sending all loves and hugs and healing prayers Whitey's way. My girls are sending good kindred Greyhound spirit prayers Whitey's way too.
  5. My one girl never has dirt in her ears although I check every so often. My other girl seems to always get dirty ears. I use a soft cloth with warm water and very little gentle liquid soap (baby wash or the like) and gently clean her ears about once a week. I always get some dirt. It was the same as my first two girls. Nylah never had any dirt in her ears, but Sierra always had some dirt. They love the cleaning. I have heard some call it "eargasims"!!
  6. I remember my Sierra had bad bad gas. She would smell up the whole house. It was just her body chemistry I guess, because my other girl would not get it that much. WHEEWWWW
  7. It sounds like your pup will do very well. I'm glad the vet did not want to cut her nails way back. One of the dogs in our adoption group had a recent procedure, and while under, they clipped his nails VERY short. A week later the poor fella was still limping and very sore. Only show dogs require very short nails ... not sure why. As long as the nails aren't overly long, they should not present any problem. I'll keep your pup in my prayers for a very safe and effective dental. I thank you very much!!
  8. My vet and I had a lengthy discussion about my girls dental appointmenst. She does a presurgical bloodwork in the morning before the surgery. She uses Propofol IV before administering the Isoflurane gas. THere is a special vet tech monitering the Gas administration during the entire surgery as well as machines monitoring the heart rate and the dog's temperature during and after surgery and in recovery. The monitoring is very close and scrutinous. This vet handles several Greyhounds as her patients. I was very comfortable with her informative conversation with me and eager to answer any of my questions. On another note, she will NOT be willing to cut back my girls nails very very short like I asked her to because she said it would be very painful to the dog afterwords and it is unnatural. Thank you all for your help and education. I knew what questions to ask and was able to comprehend her answers and explanations.
  9. My baby goes in tomorrow morning for her first dental with a new vet. I tried to prepare the best I could in discussing new vet of anestetics, etc. Please think of her. Thanks

    Genie's Gone

THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART! I am still amazed at the big "dent" our very Special Genie made in the greyhound adoption community. I prayed that I could help her make a difference...and she certainly DID! Yes...she was the STAR BABY...and LOVED EVERY MINUTE! I have never cried over the loss of a family member (Grandpa, Grandma, Dad....) as much as I have, and continue to shed tears over the loss of my Genie. She meant the world to us. We were so fortunate that she came to be part of our family! What an amazing experience! THANK YOU!!! So good hearing from you. I share your feelings about crying over lost Greybabies more than humans because they are so much more attached to us and love us so much more. We will all remember wonderful Genie and you and Tim with her - her escorts. LOL. Hope to see you again sometime at an event and get another one of your beautiful collars!! God Bless!!!
  11. Ahhhh, thanks. Take care of those trolls!! LOL
  12. I enjoyed reading this post. Very interesting. I appreciate all the moderators working so hard here. It is a pleasure being here. By the way, what is a "troll"?
  13. Your forms of literature that I have printed out, researched, and studied have been vastly informative and helpful to me. I feel more prepared to talk to my vet. I love the Dr. Susan Stack website. Thank you all so much

    Dreampt Of Jazz

My sweet Annie was running beside me a couple weeks ago - I very strongly felt her presence and knew her spirit was running with me...a few nights later in the same spot I saw a very bright light- enough to light up the dark street and yards and looked up into the dark sky and saw a flash...at the time I didn't connect the dots, but an hour later my husband who was also out running (in a familiar spot to Annie) also saw the same bright light and flash! We checked the local airport, news stations, online - anything we could think of to explain this light...but in the end we both believe it was Annie signaling us from above. I think if you are open to "seeing" your loved one, it does happen...and most commonly in dreams. Look, and you'll see. btw, I am choosing to not pick up Annie's poo in the backyard now that the snow has melted...au natural is the theme this year...but really its because I know I'll end up bawling my eyes out like you did.... Thank you for that! That was beautiful!

    Dreampt Of Jazz

First of all, I am so very sorry for the loss of your sweet little Jazz. I have a wonderful story to tell. My wonderful girl Nylah of 10 years died a horrible death. Horrible because the emergency vet was amiss, nonrespondent, and other things that are not necessary to mention. My girl died a painful death, but I was by her side and holding her. Sorry to open like that. I was just torn to pieces. I grieved worse for her than for my first girl that died a year earlier. But Nylah was a special case. The way I adopted her because of her sweet compasionate disposition to the other Greyhounds up for adoption and so forth. She had a special spirit. Anyway, one night about a month after she went to the rainbow bridge, I had the most vivid, presence feeling dream in my life. She came right up to me in the driveway from the street with a big smile on her face and tail wagging to say, "hi mom, lets go for a walk." After a little walk and pets and loves, she just walked away. This dream came to me about 4 times during the next several monhts. She was telling me not to feel so guilty aobut the vet experience, but that she loved me and was doing well and it was not my fault. I have her ashes and her sister's as well, but Nylah let me know personally. Yes, Jazz visited you. ANd he will most likely come again. Be ready. It will be wonderful. Hugs to you and I am thinking of you.

    Genie's Gone

It was always a true pleasure seeing Genie at several events I have been to over three states. It was wonderful talking to you too, Neena! I will always remember Genie the TV star!! The main event! The Girl On Stage!! I appreciate all your testimonies of her in your lives and her saving Tim's life!! God Bless you too and thank you for sharing her world wide for all to enjoy and all WILL remember!!! She is an ANGEL above with my girls now!!!
  17. Thank you so much for your pieces of advice here. I will have a chat with my vet before the appointment. But first I will read up on the suggestions you all have made here. There is only one race track that I know of in this state. The girls there heading the adoption group are very nice and hard workers. Although Greyhounds are readily seen here as adopted pets, I do wonder how much advanced experience the vets have. I will research more. So far, the new vet I have been seeing is great with my girls. Again, thank so much for offering the information to me.
  18. I have moved to a new area and my girls are getting dentals done. When I went in a couple of months ago for their first check up and yearly shots, etc, I heard loud continuous howling. It was strange howling. My girls were worried. The vet told me it was a Greyhound coming out of surgery and was disoriented. I know Greys are sensitive to surgery and need special medicine. I wanted to ask her about it, but I did not. Now since my girls are going in and will be under, what shall I say to the vet? I dont think it would be normal for a dog to be serioulsy howling coming out of surgery, do you?
  19. I am so so sorry for your loss. I had the same when one of my girls died of cancer and my other girl grieved. But I took Nylah special places and took out special "Nylah Time" and bonded closer with her. This seemed to really ease her. We went to the beach together, river together. I took her on picnics. I dont think forcing socialization with other dogs is the answer. YOU are the LINK to the lost loved one, and YOU are the source of comfort and companion. Even though you have children and other family members in the house. Please, please, please, try to make your grieving GREY a priority for a little while. It will be ever so more rewarding than you will ever know. I did lose my Nylah a year later, but I still to this day have wonderful memories and dreams of that bonding with Nylah. I have two new girls (I have had them for like four years now LOL), but I will never forget my former girls.
  20. Since I have moved to a place completely different from where I come from (Florida), Bella sees all kinds of new animals and smells all kinds of new smells. When she is outside in the big yard running around, if she sees funny moving things up the mountain, she will bark continuously. In Florida, she never barked.
  21. has not set their status
