  1. My Penny is on Free Form fish oil capsules, ($70something from Chewy), and niacinamide from the Vitamin Shoppe (can't remember how much, but under $30).
  2. My first grey, 20 years go, spread holiday cheer in the yard with red, green, gold, and silver sparkling poop.
  3. I've had three kidney dogs. All ate the Purina brand food, which I chose because it was the least expensive. Billy lived until he was 12 1/2, Beggar until he was a month short of 11, and Oliver until he was 10 1/2. I had no problems with anyone eating the food, and was told that any treats given during the day could be "regular" treats, not kidney ones. They all were on it for years. My Sasha will be 8 in January, and just had her yearly checkup. Her kidney test showed +1, and that will be redone tomorrow when she has her dental. If it stays +1 I'm not going to change her diet, but I've been put on alert. If and when it comes to pass that she needs the special diet, I will order it from Chewy. My vet only carries Royal Canin specialty diets, and they are ghastly expensive. Perhaps you can find some appropriate add-ins for the food, to make it more tempting. The reality is that you can only do the best you can do, and eating is better than not eating. Perhaps she will go with 75% kidney, 25% regular. Perhaps a dollop of kidney wet smooshed around the dry will tempt her. Or, a dollop of ANY wet dog food will help. Or something leftover from your dinner, for that matter! Again, you can only do the best you can, and sometimes that means compromising. You will figure it out, I'm sure.
  4. Welcome from Penny (its all about ME!), Sasha (pet me, I'm sooooo soft!), and Sirius (Sir Barks-a lot).
  5. Penny, Sasha and Sirius welcome you!
  6. When my Beggar was being monitored, sometimes the vet would take the reading with the cuff around the base of his tail.
  7. Welcome from Penny, Sasha and Sirius in Delaware
  8. My Sasha has been on one or the other for over a year because she has skin issues. I buy the salmon if there is a sale, otherwise, the pollock. I find them to be equally effective. However, she doesn't get more than a pump or two every other day, or every 3 days. Any more than that gives her pudding poop. Recently, my Penny developed nail issues. The vet recommended a fish oil supplement called Free Form. Penny gets two huge capsules a day. Her poop remains solid. This is telling me that the Free Form is absorbed much better than the Grizzly. Does this help at all? (there is another supplement that begins with a W, but I forgot the name. Of the two, vet thought Free Form would better suit Penny's needs.)
  9. Welcome from Sirius, Penny, and Sasha. (Sasha says black girlies are the bestest and the prettiest!)
  10. Penny, Sasha, and Sirius say Hi! from Delaware.

  12. Penny, Sasha, and Sirius say hello from Delaware!
  13. One of the reasons my dogs are wearing muzzles and poop guards. I also don't want them catching the rabbits!
  14. Welcome from Sasha, Penny, and Sirius in Delaware!
  15. I just lost my Julio to osteo. He was my 9th grey, but the first to have osteo. I believe there are certain bloodlines that carry a greater risk, but I can't remember whose they are.
  16. Welcome from Sirius, Sasha, and Penny, who are living the retired life in Delaware.
  17. Good morning! I just adopted McGraw, a dark brindle boy. He had a less than stellar career at Southlands and Palm Beach. Since he is destined to be a Therapy Dog, could you give me a bit of information about him? I like to have a little history to share with the people we visit. 123A, 62785. Thank you!
  18. Hello and welcome from Julio, Penny, and Sasha, who live in Delaware!

  21. Welcome from Delaware, from Sasha, Penny and Julio!
  22. Many folks suggest going to thrift stores to get cheapo comforters. In my neck of the woods I can get a nice, used comforter at the Salvation Army for $25-$30. However, I can get an ugly, new comforter for $19.99-$23.99 at Big Lots or Odd Lots, and none of my dogs have ever complained about the color of the comforter they are sleeping (and sometimes peeing) on. Walmart sometimes has cheapo ones on clearance, usually the outdated cartoon kids' ones. I can wash and dry them easily, load up on the bleach, and when they start to look kinda sad, I have no problem throwing them out.
