  1. Try a little bit of gatorade in the water. WhenRocket was sick and not drinking, he practically emptied the bowl when I put Gatorade in with the water. He has a sweet tooth. While it's not something you want to add long term, it may make her go to the bowl and drink. I initially mixed Gatorade and Water 50/50 when he was pretty dehydrated, but cut it back over time until I no longer needed to add it.
  2. She is gorgeous. When she appeared on the GPA website i told DW we should go met her as a potential 2nd pup. All of the pups from that haul were adopted FAST! Congratulations. Hopefully we will get to meet Goldie at an event or at the Greyhound Resort sometime.
  3. I think the translation is "Mom likes me best....nah nah nah nahhhh nah nah.......
  4. Hopefully someone has the picture of the pup who was wearing a bra when the owner got home...... Lock your underwear drawer.... Repeated correction over time will help your pup learn what belongs to them and what doesn't. Sounds like a prime candidate for lots of stuffed toys! We have here. Where are the of your new hoarder pup??? Sounds like you are in for some fun!
  5. Bag Balm or Musher's Secret. Both work well.
  6. Good thoughts for Beth that it's something minor.
  7. Raised bowls here too. Probably 10-12 inches off the floor. I posted that link because it was the first list I found with a fairly complete list of possible symptoms for bloat when Lexie's Mom was trying to figure out what was going on. The article was much longer than just the symptoms list, but to be honest I only looked at the list of symptoms before posting it so she would have it as a reference. PS - don't believe everything you read on the internet.....
  8. Welcome home to 2 very handsome boys !!!!
  9. Unfortunately when the Big D kicks in, it happens fast with these guys. A crate will not help in this case, because if the diarrhea kicks in, you'll just have a crate to clean up. I agree with Onrushpam that there is something else at play here. Do the simple stuff first - Rule out Worms / parasites, get to the root of the stomach issues with your vet, secure the food in a closet or other area that he has no access to, and it sounds like a turnout or long walk before bedtime is essential. Keep him out there until he goes. Make that part of his routine without fail. These things are not fun for you, but they are better than what you are waking up to. Others will chime in with additional suggestions. Many have been through similar issues, and will be able to tell you what has worked for them. Good luck. Edited to add - just saw your other post regarding the cat food. Do you have an area where the cat 's food and water can be kept and have them use a cat door or opening in a door or gate that only they can get through? That's probably the only way to absolutley keep him away from it.
  10. 1 or 2 tablets should get a big belch fairly quickly if it's gas. I've given it to Rocket in the past when I hear gas noises like little squeals coming from his stomach. If she persists with the signs of discomfort she needs to get to the vet. Symptoms of bloat

    Gustav's Gone

We are very sorry for your loss. Run free Gustav.
  12. The ink is probably not an issue since most dry erase markers are non-toxic. The issue is going to be any plastic that she ate and whether it passes through or comes back up. I would want to be there for a while monitoring the pup and not leaving her. If it comes back up, the plastic could obstruct her airway if there are large pieces. You will also need to montor poop just to make sure that it passes through. Too large of a piece and I would be concerned about an obstruction. I wouldn't panic, but think she would definitely need to be monitored. Might also be worth a call to your vet just to double check, as they've probably seen this before. I was stunned at how many Google entries there were for Dog Ate Dry Erase Marker. Seems to happen pretty regularly.

  18. You need to get her into a routine and stick with it. If she thinks she is going to go out every hour, she won't be bothered to go. Then, when she doesn't go out every hour, she will have an accident. Give her as much space as you can while trying to get her to potty. Some people use longer leads or tie 2 together initilaly to give the dog more space, but I wouldn't do it unless you are an experienced handler. We don't want her to be an Amber Alert. Some dogs prefer to go beihnd something or on something. Our boy likes tall weeds or grass to squat over, but is in a routine where we walk at the same times every day, and has turnouts into a fenced area as part of his meal routines. These pups thrive on routine. Don't give up on her, just work on the routine and she will get there. It may not be wise to bring in a second pup until you have thr routine established with the first. Often, a new dog takes his/her clues from the one who is already there. Good luck. I'm sure others will chime in with things that have worked for them - it's a very common issue when a pup first arrives.
  19. Welcome home Slick!!!! What a handsome dude!
  20. I wonder if Rego's hearing is super sensitive to the sound of the fly buzzing? I know Rocket hears things that I don't, and DW says that I have "dog ears." He runs to the window so much when there's the least little noise, that I occasionally call him Mrs. Kravitz.... High pitched noises will startle Rocket on a walk. usually the sound of the metal on his leash clinking against whatever he is sniffing around, like a street sign post, or mailbox. When this happens, he will refuse to walk by the offending object again for a couuple of weeks, so we have to alter our route until he forgets about it, or has to walk past it because something on the other side now has his interest. . The startle is really bad when it happens, and if I didn't have a death grip on the leash he would take off.
  21. Too late - that thread was already started here.
