  1. What Jerilyn said. She is still learning the routine and figuring out what she does and doesn't like. The dog you have now will be settled in and entirely different a year from now. By then, she will also have fogured out how to work the system for anything she wants.
  2. Mark and LaVida stayed at home with me. They aren't really into traveling or the car. You may have seen Snickers in the pics as she was there all weekend. We took Rocket to the Kanab gathering once, and after a day he was ready to come home. Rocket was extremely social but I think the Kanab event was overwhelming for him. After that trip, he and I stayed home while Chris went to the event with Trolley's Mom and Snickers' Mom.
  3. Chris brought some new stuffies back from the gathering in Kanab. Mark loves this stuffed heart shaped stuffie. It makes a better pillow than stuffie.
  4. Happy Gotcha Day Logan! You don't look a day over 5!
  5. AnnIE: I heard there would be french fries.... Great job AnnIE! Punkin, we are so glad you are doing well. LaVida wants to know how much the Tooth Fairy brought you.
  6. Many of our previous dogs struggled with heat in the 70's and above. Some of that depended on whether or not they were in direct sun. Here in the desert we try to stick to shaded areas when walking, and at this time of year the only good time to walk is before or right at sunrise. As soon as the sun pops over the horizon it is just about too hot here to walk for the rest of the day. Rocket always wanted his walk regardless of weather, so we would load him in the van and drive to a tree lined street so that we could walk in continuous shade. He got 2 rides and a walk that way and he was happy. When we've had dogs that overheated, we usually use cold wet towels and washcloths on their necks, belly and paws while aiming a fan at them on high. You do have to constantly change the towels or washcloths out as they do no good one they warm up against the skin. We keep a small fan ready to go and sit it right on the floor in front of them when this happens. At this time of year, we really don't do many walks here as the dogs start panting as soon as we are in the sun. Mark, who is a black dog, will go and lay on the back yard in the hot sun at least twice a day. We do limit his time and make him come inside, but he has little interest in going for a walk in this weather, but likes to go out and warm up a little since our AC won't shut off again until November. Good luck!
  7. Thanks for making sure she gets to a good home. That little peanut is adorable.
  8. I love these two! You are so lucky to have found them together.
  9. Happy Birthday Willa and Doolin! Mark and LaVida want you to know that you are supposed to have French Fries AND Ice Cream on your birthday.
  10. I guess not. Lavida slept like that for almost 2 hours. I don't know how that's comfortable but apparently it is. Some new stuffies came home from Kanab. Watch for our new friends in the background of future pics. As you can see she has perfectly adjusted Conner and Val's orthopedic Slumber Ball for roaching. I don't dare straighten it out.
  11. LaVida took a little after dinner nap. She's been like this for an hour now.
  12. That is such an Annie type of prank.....
  13. They don't get it too often so they just really like it when it happens. Mark tried to clean LaVida's bowl because she was taking too long.
  14. Update: Birthday Ice Cream was served before bed last night. It was a big hit!
  15. She looks awesome. LaVida will be posting similar pics next month as she also has to lose quite a few teeth. I'm so glad that Punkin is feeling better.
  16. She needed a background for her Zoom call.
  17. Dr. Rocket left a standing prescription for vanilla ice cream before he left us. I know he would want Punkin to start a course of meds just as soon as she's up to it. Feel better soon, sweet Punkin.
  18. Awesome pics. My first reaction was trying to figure out how LaVida got into your pictures.
  19. The perfect tribute for a perfect boy. Run-free, Lucas.
  20. Your hound may be used to being fed in the crate and may have had a water bucket attached to a crate as well. I'm not sure how they do feeding and watering in Ireland kennels, but much of your dog's life has likely been centered around a crate until now. Make sure she has a crate as her safe space with the door open when you are home so she can come and go. She will learn the routine of the house soon, but for right now is completely unsure what is expected of her and needs time to learn the new surroundings and new routine. Good luck!
