  1. Tom, I am so sorry that your heart healer had to leave. Although it never gets easier to see them go, our lives are enriched by the time we have with each one of these amazing companions. May the memories of all you shared together help you through the grief of this sudden loss. Godspeed Hero.
  2. Godpseed Tornado. I am so sorry for your loss.
  3. I am so sorry that Pop had to leave you. Godspeed Pop.
  4. I am so sorry for your loss. Godspeed Tom Sawyer, and to Popcorn and Joshy also lost to osteo today.
  5. Thats the way mine are packaged as well. I let them thaw partially (about 6 hours) and then by running under cold water can break them apart and repackage without them thawing completely.
  6. Daisy started acupuncture treatments in early December. Her hind weakness was to a point where she was falling 4-5 times daily and I really thought we were going to have to say goodbye. Thank goodness that I tried acupuncture. I saw a huge difference after the first treatment - she was standing taller and seemed to have greatly increased hind end strength. Our first visit and assessment was 80 - subsequent visits have been 40. She had treatments every other week for the first 8 weeks and now goes on an as needed basis. It has been three weeks since her last treatment. She has fallen maybe 3 times times since we started - an amazing improvement. Sorry, I'm in Canada so can't help with a referral.
  7. I am so sorry for your loss. I didn't know Cobb's story before - how lucky he was to have found a forever couch with you. Run free Cobb.
  8. Freddy is never far from my thoughts. I check for updates throughout the day, every day. Adding my prayers that his surgery goes well and he continues his remarkable recovery.
  9. Lori, I am so sorry that it was time for Daytona to leave. What a wonderful time Daytona had with you as she discovered the joys of retirement. She was so lucky to have found her way to you, where she got the best that all greyhounds hope for - to be cherished, loved and to have a forever family to call their own. This spring, I will find a special place in the garden for your two angels - and just as they are together at the bridge they will be together in our memory garden. Run free beautiful Daytona - soar with all the angels that have gone before you.
  10. I am so sorry that Buffy had to leave. I know we never feel that they have enough time with us but for Buffy the time she had with you was the best time of her life. Run free beautiful girl
  11. What a beautiful tribute - your love for Gracie shines through. Thank you for opening your heart and your home to this senior girl - I am so very sorry that your time together was so short. Run free Gracie.
  12. Kyle, I know exactly what you are feeling. Daisy turned 14 in January. Daisy was falling 4-5 times a day in early December, we too had some accidents happening. I had a long talk with my vet and finally decided to try some acupuncture. It has made an amazing difference - we have only had 3 or 4 falls in over 8 weeks. But it is clear that she is weakening. She eats numerous smaller meals as she can't stand long enough for one big feed. BUT she stills loves to get out into the yard for a walk and even a short run. All my others have sent me clear messages that it was time - not so with her. With my osteo pups, I knew. With CHF I knew. With old age I just don't. Deb
  13. I remember Daisy's story and how much my heart ached for this girl. Thank you for stepping up and taking her in. I wish she could have stayed with you longer. She was so well loved - first by her original owner and then by you. Run free Daisy
  14. Carol, I am so sorry. I knew that Peachy was Magic's friend but never realized that she lived in the same house so just how close you both were to her. Please pass on our sympathy to your housemate and his daughter. Run free sweetie - Peachy you were well loved.

  16. Pat, I am so sorry. Your tribute to Moe was not in the post but in the life you gave her. Sweet Moe finally got to learn what a home was - what it was to be loved, and loved on thanks to you. You gave her the best of time of her life - and the hugest piece of your heart. I know how much you hoped she would stay for a special 14th birthday celebration. But Moe had other plans - a big party at the bridge with all our beloved angels, celebrating the life and love she had with you. Moe will never be forgotten, in the spring we will find a special place for her in the garden, close to all your angels. Godspeed sweet Moe, you will be in our hearts always.
  17. What vegetables are you adding in. Perhaps try adding green beans to provide some relief. Also are you using any oil in his food. I add in a tablespoon of Grizzly Salmon Oil to mine for the evening meal. Helps with the coat and I think it may also help with constipation.
  18. Linda, I am so sorry. The words just seem so inadequate. Your tribute to Gary was so touching, the love and deep bond you shared so clear and I know you will miss him forever. What a wonderful long life Gary had with you. The dream of every greyhound and the reality of far too few - to celebrate 10 years in his forever home with you. May all the memories that you shared through those years help you through your grief at his loss. Gary, what a special boy - and you touched so many of us through the WFUBCC. Know that we will always remember you. Godspeed

  23. Maxi came straight from the hauler to my house as a foster. The first full day she was here she was out in the yard running with my other two senior girls and let out a yelp. Turned to see her holding up her back leg. Sure enough - it was broken. A dislocation fracture of the tarsus. What we discovered was that she had no tendon holding these stacing cup-like bones in place and so it would heal and then dislocate again. Probably the first time she broke it and tore the tendons was what had ended her racing career. We had the option of surgically pinning which would mean she would have no movement in the joint or trying a brace. We went with the brace. It was casted for by a local vet and made by K9 Orthotics here in Canada. Maxi wore her brace whenever she was out of her crate. The risk of dislocating again was too high. But with the brace on she could run again. It was a joy to see her run and play with the others.
