rsieg Posted December 25, 2022 Share Posted December 25, 2022 With the cold snap (down to -3 deg F as the high here in Cleveland), I was worried about how Logan would do. He never does his business in the nice fenced-in backyard, insisting on going on walks, and even then he has to go up to 1/2 mile before he finds a "worthy" spot. Also, he never barks. I've had him 9 1/2 years, never heard him bark. So if he holds it all day and can't get through the night, I expected a mess in the house. But, he's adjusted. He has been doing both #1 and #2 in the backyard, even doing both on the same one-minute outing. And most amazing, Christmas morning at 6 am he came to my bedroom door and barked to be let out. Just one bark, but an actual bark, not a whine. EllenEveBaz Posted December 26, 2022 Share Posted December 26, 2022 (edited) As our family saying goes, Logan's mother didn't raise any foolish puppies [nods approvingly]. Waiting till 6 am on Christmas morning was an especially nice touch, but Logan, your dad doesn't expect you to hold it till you almost burst. You can wake him up at 3 or 4 next time. What impresses me most about this kind of behavior is that there's a problem they haven't dealt with before but they know to come to us for help. I guess that's one difference between wild and domesticated animals.
