cleptogrey Posted August 23, 2022 Share Posted August 23, 2022 (edited) https://www.woodtv.com/news/michigan/dozens-of-michigan-dogs-killed-possibly-by-new-form-of-parvovirus/?fbclid=IwAR0oMmGgL_sMZ-3TheYE3DGhIE1SpFdKmYnpdvpMXPtiwJQTZYtjYPIKiRo# i saw another article, very similar. just be more than diligent- if you dog is off, stools/vomit etc - don't wait! my last saluki survived parvo! why? i knew it was more than a bout of gastroenteritis, called my vet immediately. he was put on strong antibiotics and hydrated sub-q. i ended up giving him injections of antibiotics and measuring everything that went in- rice, rice and some human cookies. went back in 2 days for more sub-q fluids. and yes he lived another 6 years to the ripe age of 12. considering his intestines were destroyed by the disease it's amazing. he lived on rice for 6 years! also, a new strain of LEPTO is out there. my friend's borzoi who was inoculated last May has managed to survive! She's still not out of the woods, waiting for more liver enzyme test, but she's not on death's door step anymore.
