Guest blueberri
Thank you for your suggestion RobinW - Sparky's collapsing legs isn't predictable, so a harness might not be of use at this point, but I'll bear it in mind if these treatments don't work. ' My beautiful boy came through the anaesthesia fine. He spent yesterday evening wobbly and disoriented, with lots of stress-licking going on. This morning he is back to his usual bouncy self, and the only signs of his adventure are the shaved patch on his leg for the IV, and a large shaved "sunroof" on his back/butt where they administered the epidural steroids. To be repeated in another fortnight God I hope this works, and his pain goes away.

Guest blueberri
Well! About time I updated. Sparky had some issues post op with anxiety, stress licking and resorting to previous maladaptive behaviour (separation anxiety, destruction of property etc), so we've had to go back and resume basic training to get that sorted... but from a physical point of view he is little mister trot-about! He's so bouncy and happy! He folds himself in half while playing with toys and bounces around. He literally bounces on his paws when we go for walks, and he has an increased tolerance of exercise. He's just a million times better! There's no stiffness in his back legs, and he appears to be moving without pain. We've had two follow ups with the orthopaedic specialist, both of which were anticipated to be doing further anaesthetic and injections after the check, but he came away from both with a full bill of health. The orthopaedic doc is thrilled, suggested that he may require the odd jab from time to time, but he has no tightness or discomfort at all. That, compared with him having screamed with every prod, and even turned and snapped at the specialist a few times... I can't believe it. So thank you for your well wishes! Sparky's back in fine form, and as a result of his health issues being resolved, we may be getting a brother or sister for him

You will rebuild yourself around the loss you have suffered. You will be whole again but you will never be the same.
