lovinggreysslp
Today marks the third day Jimmy is fever free!! I can get about three cups of kibble into him along with ensure, his favorite huge dog biscuits, slices of potato (thanks Batmom) and cottage cheese. Our vet does not like the sugar in ensure but it packs 250 calories and Jimmy runs to me when I start shaking the can! The shivering spells have not reappeared, he seems to be getting stronger and his stool is now formed (I know you all wanted to know this info). I know Jimmy is still horribly underweight and we will need to address the kidney issue next but we are moving in the right direction with his being comfortable, happy and starting to get his spunk back. All your positive thoughts are working! krissn333
That's great news! When Sutra was thin and needed to gain weight, I gave him macaroni mixed with cottage cheese and boiled ground beef or ground turkey, or mashed potatoes or plain oatmeal in place of the macaroni. He also liked a gruel of mashed potatoes & Ensure. Later on I started adding chopped up hard boiled eggs-he REALLY loved those! I always called it his "slop" He ate 3-4 times a day at first...small meals. As he gained strength we were able to go to 2-3 larger meals a day. Hope your sweet boy continues to do well!
