We're bringing Moose home today. We still don't know if it's cancer or another type of inflammation but we'll deal with that when we know. They stopped his methocarbamol and tramadol, are keeping the prednisone and adding doxycycline, clindamycin and Pepcid. Also some acepromazine for his restlessness at night. He'll still be incontinent but we have lots of WalMart Maxi pads and belly bands (thanks God's Greys) to help with that. They also assisted him with defectation while he was under so he feels much more comfortable!

So it's a bit of good news today and we'll have our Moosie for a little while longer. We do what's best for our greyhounds so as long as it makes sense, he'll be here.

Thanks for all your warm thoughts and prayers.

Checking in to see if there is an update on Moose. Any results from the spinal tap? Sending more prayers your way. :hope

won't have spinal tap results until late today or tomorrow but he's really struggling. I think we're going to have to let him go to the Rainbow Bridge soon. Surgery and chemo were only stop-gap measures anyway.

so it seems like there are nutraphils in his spinal fluid which seems like meningitis (bacterial infection.) He had a good day today (Carli our vet tech/GAO volunteer) babysat him today while Mike was a work. His problems are at night. He's restless and whiny and struggles when he lays down. We're hoping that the additional pain meds for neurology patients helps tonight. They also want to start him on cyclosporine in addition to the doxycline for the infection.

All this will do is to make him comfortable. We understand that he's not going to with us for long but as long as he's happy and not in pain we'll enjoy our time with him. He still eats like a little piggy (chicken breast, canned Blue Buffalo dog food, rice, pasta, eggs)which makes us happy. :inlove

Perhaps he was placed here to help Frankie through the loss of Comet. Whatever the reason, he's been a joy and a Godsend.
