Guest 4rooers Posted December 22, 2010 Share Posted December 22, 2010 (edited) Last night I took a Christmas present down the street to Kendall, a three year old little girl who lives 2 houses down. She loves to pet my dogs on our nightly walks and it has become a ritual for her to ask if she can pet them, then come and love on them all. I found a stuffed greyhound at a local pet shop for her. When I got to their house, I told her she had a gift from Oswald, Rourke and Elmo. "And Rippa?" she asked. I said yes, and she opened the bag and pulled out the fuzzy grey greyhound with a pink striped scarf. She hugged it and then asked" What's her name?". I told her this was her greyhound and she could name it whatever she wanted. She thought for a minute or so, then smiled and said "her name is Rippa!".I smiled through my tears and said that it was a very good name. When I got home, I told my son about Kendall's choice for a name and he smiled and said" See Mom, Rippa lives on forever". My sweet baby Rippa, wherever you are, I hope you know how very special you are. You are loved by many, and maybe someday, Kendall will have a real greyhound because of you and your loving, gentle ways around children. I miss you so much.
