Guest Hoolyghans
He's gone. Thank you all for your support. You all know there is no such thing as "just" a dog. The boys (10 & 15) wanted to come which made it harder on me but they deserved to have their closure too. I'm so proud of how well they handled themselves. We were all sad & crying of course but they truly understood it was best for him. When I saw him this afternoon there was no doubt we made the right decision. His belly was even bigger than yesterday and he was so weak he plopped right down on the blankets as soon as he got into the exam room. The tech was wonderful, said she'd had him out of the cage on those blankets all day. He just snoozed & watched the goings on without getting into anything so she let him stay out. I was glad to hear he didn't spend his last hours in a cage. We brought him a BK cheeseburger and for a dog with no appetite, he almost took my fingers off snarfing it down yet he spit out the pickle. It gave us something to laugh about.
