Rustyroo
Poor Alan, hugs to you. Rusty is having issues with rear leg weakness too. It's what caused him to fall down the basement steps that resulted in a broken leg. Hopefully you will feel better soon. rascalsmom
Given Buddy's recent back-end problems, I can certainly sympathize with you. It's so hard to see them getting older and having these problems. Buddy is a lot better since he's been on the pain meds, though.... Quote Phoebe (Belle's Sweetpea) adopted 9/2/13. Remolacha
oh Alan, it must be hard to walk on all that nasty ice and snow this is one of my biggest fears with Fletcher, who is also 90 lbs, and you can not get in or out of my house with out going up/down three steps. silverfish
I'm glad to hear he's a bit better. I know how you feel. Each time something happens with Jack I fear that this is it... he's going to be thirteen and a half in a couple of weeks. If you can take the pressure off with the steps and so on, and get past this ice and snow, Alan may surprise you. Let's hope so. Guest ss556
He didn't get up to greet me at the door yesterday when I got home from work and isn't too happy this morning either. It's damp and cold out and it's going to snow again. Not good. He ate and peed and pooped so that's ok, I'll see how he is today otherwise I will call my vet later and make an appt. He was doing so well...
rascalsmom
I know the feeling. We've had a lot of snow here, too, and some of it melted the other day....enough to make the dogs' backyard paths (which I shoveled for them) a sheet of ice. D*** winter!! I am almost hoping for a little snow, to cover the ice and give them a wee bit of traction.... Give Alan a hug from me....he and Buddy are both in a similar situation.... Guest ss556
My older son moved to Vegas three months ago and he tells me how nice it is there - mainly the weather and not dealing with the New York winters. Since in all reality I'm not going anywhere (yet) I hope he moves back after a year. In the meantime, it will be shoveling again and I make a path for Alan in the backyard. This has been a bad winter.

CaliforniaGreys
Would one of those heated beds help Alan? Keep him warmer than normal on these cold snowy days? This is a great idea. I use electric blankets on the dog's beds and it really helped Tanner who had severe arthrits and bone spurs. The vet who did his acupuncture said to keep doing it.
