dbullwinkel
my guys love boiled beef. I sometimes add it to their kibble as a topping..especially for garry who is a nervous eater..so the beef helps him ignore what is going on around him and eat! When you finally (eventually) get him back to kibble you might want to transition it in with the beef and rice mixture. Glad he is eating! MaryJane
I'm so happy to hear that beau is eating the hamburger and rice ... You did not mention how the poops are - is there still blood or are they normal now?
RobinM
well... he ate quite a bit last evening but nothing this morning. I will be hope at one to try again. His poops had blood in it that one time. Vet felt that it was due to straining because after giving him a rectal, she said he was inflamed. Anyway, his poops have gone from pudding like to explosive D. I kind of expected that after the drastic change in diet and all the meds he is on. We have to give it a week on the rice and beef before we do anything different. BauersMom
Anyway, his poops have gone from pudding like to explosive D. I kind of expected that after the drastic change in diet and all the meds he is on. We have to give it a week on the rice and beef before we do anything different. He is having the explosive D on the beef and rice, you mean? That doesn't seem right to me, honestly, even with the change, etc. I know rice can aggravate the stomach, so I usually use potatoes but even then I wouldn't expect the rice to make it get worse to the level of explosive diarrhea. Is he drinking OK still? Quote With Buster Bloof (UCME Razorback 89B-51359) and Gingersnap Ginny (92D-59450). Missing Pepper, Berkeley, Ivy, Princess and Bauer at the bridge. Batmom
Might just be a little system overload. RobinM
Just got home and he ate a lot. Prob a cup of rice and 1/2 pound of beef. I think because he has a sensitive stomach to begin with and the added stress of the new blend of foods and meds, he needs time. he is happy, silly, drinking, and no blood. RobinM
Still on the rice and beef although I put a schmear (smear) of watery beef tripe on it. Maybe 1/4 teaspoon since he is starting to get bored with it and he ate it. Mornings are not the preferred time to eat so i feed him a little later and that works until MOnday when it's back to work. he may have to go hungry until he gets back with the program. No gurglys though, which I am so happy about. still on the meds which he will remain on for at least 10 days. today is day 4.
