Guest KsFrets
We try very hard to be the best doggie parents and have everything covered. Last night we all went to bed, with the M&M's on their beds on the floor beside our bed. In the middle of the night a big storm rolled through, which started with a lightening bolt and a big thunder crash...and of course two doggies jumping up. Magnus was shaking like a leaf...and you can imagine our horror when we turned the lights on and there is blood all over his leg and bed and blanket. When Magnus sleeps, sometimes he is very close to our bed. Apparently too close, and when he jumped up, he raked his leg across a sharp edge of the metal bed frame, and layed it wide open Well, here we were at 3 am patching him up with bandages and bandaids as best as we could, and then took him to the vet first thing this morning. He's all stitched up now, and will be just fine. But no running for awhile and he gets his stitches out in 10 days. I think it hurt us more than him! When we got home, we immediately rearrainged the bedroom to give the doggies way more room, and we will be MUCH more concious about how close they get to/under the bed when they sprawl out at night. Guest kimberllee
Ouchie! Hope that doesn't happen in our house ... Gregg often likes to sleep with his head under my side of the bed. No sharp edges there, but he's clumsy enough to injure himself, I'm sure! Feel better soon, big guy!
Guest KsFrets
Thanks for the well wishes!!! It sure must have been an ordeal for Mags, because he's still sleeping, and we missed our morning walk. So far so good on messing with the bandages! Magnus has been a very good guy for letting people do stuff to him, he didn't give the vet any trouble. He will definately get a BIG cookie!!! I spent some time inspecting the bed, and I also put cloth tape around all the sharp edges. It's quite a eye opener how rough and sharp the frame is! Not being able to run is going to be tough on him...he loves it so much! The vet did say I could take him for easy walks for now. It was kind of cute, we called the vet and they said come right away...then we walked in with two dogs! we had to explain that it's worse to seperate them, so we just bring them both everywhere. You can tell they are much more comfortable when the M&M's can support eachother. When they brought the mags back out of the surgery room, he about went crazy to see Maggie again. He had a most pitiful whine going home, I really think he was scared we weren't going home or something. When we got home, you could see the relief and happiness

Guest paulamariez
Poor baby Magnus! Keeping your sweet heart in my thoughts and prayers for a quick healing! I'll never forget a similar incident when I was a teenager back at home. We had a German Shepherd who crawled under the pull out bed that my sister and I were sleeping on. A storm rolled in during the night and our dog Greta crawled under the sofa bed. When she tried to come out we heard a yelp and turned on the light and Greta cut her leg so bad on the metal bed frame that it was spurting blood out and my dad had to rush her to the E-Vet in the middle of the night. Man, I'll NEVER forget waking up to that horror! Tiger, Bueller and Domino are sending Magnus some healing doggie kisses too! Get well quick! 5blackgreys
Best wishes for a speedy recovery for Magnus and thank you for posting. My "old man" loves to sleep next to our bed with his legs underneath it. He's also terrified of thunderstorms so it's very possible he could do the same thing. Not to hijack this thread but thank you for the camera club suggestion, I had the president call me and she wants to do the pictures!!! Guest KsFrets
Magnus just got back from a short walk. He said it sure was nice to sniff some squirrel tracks and get outside, but that knee is sure stiff and sore! He thanks everyone for their thoughts and wishes! What a fantastic forum!
