  2. I'm so very sorry. Godspeed Gwennie.
  3. I'm so very sorry. I'm glad you were able to spend some time with him before he left, but he left much much too young. Godspeed Kamin.
  4. Another wow! I hope the baby aspirin does the trick quickly and completely, and that her kidneys are OK.
  5. Xan - Tylan is very bitter. Some of my girls won't touch it, others will; those who do might refuse it if they're feeling punk. If you had Tylan on the venison, that might be part of the problem. I used to use a teeny tiny bit of garlic powder to get it into Minnie (the IBD dog). Now I use capsules for the ones who won't eat it. Or you could use tuna juice.
  6. Right. At least it does for my broodie (Piper). It's one of the first signs. Antibiotics for the UTI make it even worse. (ETA: Just to make things even more fun, she tends to get a UTI if her food is changed.) I have not had a dog refuse to eat due to pred--have had a couple on it--it often seems to make them ravenous instead. Besides, if she's been on the pred for a year, that's not the new variable. But if it is contributing to her lack of appetite, the Pepcid can help. And yes, there is a whole lot of conflicting info about IBD. Some of it due to different philosophies, some of it because it isn't a simple condition.
  7. Oh, do I feel for you. I have an IBD dog, and another (a broodie, no less) with recurrent UTIs, food issues, and a sensitivity to antibiotics (they make her sick). The broodie is oh-so-slowly coming back from a weight loss similar to Happy's--and she started out too thin. I agree with Batmom that it's wise to give Happy something for her stomach. Between the possible IBD, the pred, the UTI, and the antibiotics, it's no wonder she's not eating. That is very important information that you need to keep in mind as you sort through all the advice you're given. Tilapia worked for RobinM's Beau, but it would have killed my IBD dog. Some dogs can't eat beef; I thought my IBD dog couldn't but she can. The broodie is currently surviving on cooked ground beef. There is a lot of interest in grain-free food these days, but most of my girls can eat grains--just not the same ones. One option is to do blood tests for allergies. A lot of people don't like them, but they've worked for me. Other protein sources? Pork, lamb, duck...all of which are available in kibble, which you might be able to use when you've found a protein source that she can tolerate. There are also even more specialized items (rabbit, kangaroo) available in veterinary diets. I hope you can find something to make Happy happy again soon.
  8. I'm so very sorry. She was a beautiful girl, had an extraordinary run, and was blessed to have found you for her last years. Godspeed Allie.
  9. I'm so sorry. My sympathy to your daughter. Godspeed C.C.
  10. :yay It's sounding really really good. I'm sure she'll continue to improve.
  11. for successful surgery and a quick and uneventful recovery.
  12. I miss her too. Even though I have her twin here, I miss her.
  13. Yup. I used the one in robinw's post. It was invaluable, but it does work better for the front than the back. The one mentioned by DofSP looks very useful; I may have to add it to my collection.
  14. Crikey! I think I may have to move back to Waterloo. Great news for you and Phene. I trust the lab results will be good.
  15. Ruffwear Webmaster. I used it for Cora, who had rear leg issues (one broken, one FCE, then OS-that-we-thought-was-ACL). I think it would work even better for front leg support, although you might want to modify it so he doesn't have to step through with the right leg.
  16. I've had four dogs on Propalin, which has the same active ingredient as Proin. Two handled it well, one wouldn't eat it (it's a liquid that is put on food), and one (non-grey) had GI symptoms (she's IBD).
  17. What a relief that the surgery was successful. I hope he heals quickly and well.
  18. I'm so sorry. I'm glad he found his way to you for his last year and a bit. Godspeed Casey.
