In our heart, though, they'll be bright and clear, as they always were.

Maybe preparing Summer's meals would help toward her seeing you as something good rather than scary.

I had a semi-spook greyhound that I adopted at age 9. He was happiest in a back bedroom. He came out for meals and to go potty, then went back to the bedroom. I accepted that that was his normal. A few times before he died he popped into the living and looked at us and then went back to the bedroom. He would allow us to leash him for vet trips but otherwise seemed happy with his solitary life.

Your girl knew you loved her. And perhaps by crossing over while you were out of town, she thought that better than to have you watch her go. She was indeed a very special girl. May you find your new greyhound soon so that your heart healing can begin.

I have a bamboo pole, about 5' long and and inch of more in diameter. I tied a stuffy toy to it using a piece of cloth clothesline.

I love this picture! His tongue is so long it almost looks like a tie. Last night Percy picked up a toy and walked a few steps with it. Then he stopped and looked puzzled, as if he wondered just what are you supposed to do with these things?

He has both lower canines but the one on the right really sticks out. Today I caught him running laps, well 1 1/2 laps. He looked so happy.

Since Mikey left us it was just a matter of time before another old boy found his way here. Surprising there was a shortage of old boys who were small dog safe. The few I'd found lived far far away. Each of them looked lovely but none of them "clicked" until I saw Percy. He was found running the streets in Florida and landed in an animal shelter. Thanks to Carol Rizzo he got pulled and was taken in by the wonderful folks at the GPA Senior Sanctuary. I'm a sucker for hard luck stories and this boy sure had one. Skin sores, ear infection, pee shooter troubles and missing all but 8 teeth he looked perfect to me. I had some concerns about him having to travel so far to get here. Debby and JC from GPA-SS met me halfway and assured me that Percy coming to me opened up space for other elderly returns to come in. Percy traveled well and is getting along fine with Mazy and iggy Charlie. He's a few months shy of being 12, is very sweet and looks like he has "Bubba teef".

The blocking you from leaving the kitchen could have been her telling you she had to go out. How much do you feed her? What kind of food? And what times of day?

Is your vet referencing the WBC to greyhounds? It's slightly low for greyhounds: 3.5 - 6.5 and other dog is 5.8 - 20.3 (Dr Couto) or 6.0 - 17.0 (Dr Stack).

What is Travel's WBC, RBC, Hgb, and the platelet count?
