  1. Foxy's tumor was diagnosed as a spindle cell at first Liz. On subsequent staining they settled on hemangiopericytoma. As you may remember, her's never returned and she lived another 4 years after it was removed. Let me know what Dr C says. Also if you need any chemo drugs, I can work with them to get them here. Even if they say they can't, we can help you.
  2. Corinna Although for a minute I did think uh oh! That's an adorable picture.
  3. Hi and welcome from Ottawa! Lakota is a beautiful girl. I'm looking forward to seeing more of her and her friends at the dog park.
  4. I went out looking for Colloidal Silver yesterday. Did you order it, or did you find it in a store? I got mine from TinasTroops
  5. I forgot to mention this in Suds thread, but I use a coloidal silver spray on all cuts and abrassions. We haven't needed antibiotics for secondary infections on minor injuries since I did that. Feet scrapes and cuts can be a pain because of all the possible contamination they come in contact with.
  6. You've been given some good advice. Jake has given me lots of experience with leg injuries and the resulting swelling. Getting him to move around is good, it keeps the circulation going and flushes the tissue. The other things I do is when he is laying down, prop his foot up so the fluid drains up not down. Soaking in epsom salt and warm water will pull the toxins etc out of his tissue. If he won't put his leg into a jug to do this (Jake won't) just soak a towel and wrap that around. I put this over the wound as well, it helps reduce the risk of infection and promotes healing. Red vet wrap panic? Been there, done that I never buy red vet wrap and ask the vet techs not to use it. I laughed once when a vet said "bring him back if the bleeding starts again." I looked at his leg and said "how will I know that?" the bet looked down and was quiet then got this oh duh! expression on his face. They then covered the wrap with white gauze.
  7. Looks like a hemangioma. Bleed like crazy, but basically harmless. I had one removed from Peanut's toe because she kept knocking it and bleeding everywhere. We had that sent out to pathology and that's all it was. We were told that she will get more (and she did) because she is a light coloured dog who grew up in the south.
  8. Missed the first post, and am so relieved to see this Anne Marie. Give Freddie a hug for me.
  9. Whenever I think of Ember I think of how she brought you into my life, I'm so grateful she did. She left a great legacy Tom, and so many remember her. Happy Birthday beautiful Ember! You and Foxy have birthdays 2 days apart, she would have been 15 this year.
  10. I'm so very sorry Shannon So much so soon. Godspeed Lexi
  11. I'm heartbroken. I know when we were talking the other night, you were very worried, but I still wasn't expecting this. This has been an exceptionally tough few weeks my friend, the only thing that makes me feel better is to know that Phury, Tohr and Wellsie have some wonderful role models. Godpspeed Handsome Man you were loved by many.
  12. She is never far from my thoughts. I just noticed her dates Pat, her sister's birthdate is Dec 6th. Today (since it is after 12:00 am) would have been her 15th birthday. I bet the two of them are partying it up, most likely dancing on tables with Loca.
  13. You have our prayers Chris. Let us know when you get time. Hugs to you
  14. Shannon, I am so very sorry. You guys put up a big fight. Godspeed Flash
  15. Sorry, I didn't get back to let you know how he's doing. 10 minutes before Jake hurt himeslf, Cathie let me know that Grandy's baby Tohr had passed away. Since then we have also lost Wellsie. Grandy's family is now down to only two boys. Please keep her and her babes in your prayers that whatever took the others is done. Jake is good. He really has surprised me with how well he has recovered. He is play bowing and wagging his tail both good indicators of how he is feeling. Those of you who have followed him and his mysterious leg swellings over the past 2 1/2 years will understand how concerned I was that this tumble would trigger another episode. His butt is looking pretty good with the exception of one spot about 2 1/2" accross surrounding a nickel sized hole. I immediately put him on cephalexin and my wonderful vet Miki gave me a script for a weeks worth. I didn't even have to take him in. His one back hock needed to be bandaged today as it was bleeding a bit. Other than that he is scraped and bruised but amazingly intact. The fact we didn't see any swelling this time is a good indicator that the second treatment of doxy may have worked.
  16. If my day wasn't stressful enough, Jake tried to race Peanut to a squirel. He lost, got hip checked and skidded on his butt easily 4 feet. He is a mess. Lots of ugly lookin abrassions on his back hocks, and his poor but is hamburger, he even has a scrape under his tail. I cleaned him up and I'm heading out to get a mega load of polysporin. I can't find my EMT spray, ugh! I've given him some metacam and melatonin. I need to go out now to get some more supplies. He's got a shower in his very near future. then I'll photo everything so I have a baseline. Pray he doesn't swell. We really need him to stay healthy. Heading out to the drug store my DS is a manager of. I can get a discount on all we need. Oh, and he, the DS Andrew, fell down the stairs this morning and his wrist is swollen and hurts really bad. Can I scream now?
  17. I had to google novox to be sure what it is. Rimadyl doesn't do much for Jake, he has had much better results with Metacam, When she had the bad reaction to Tramadol was she taking the Novox? We found out that Jake can't take Tramadol and Rimadyl together, he has a horrible reaction. He can take the Metacam with it though. I know many people who have had great results with Deramaxx. I hope you find something that works for your girl.
