  1. He is eating as long as I offer different things He ate Hund N Flocken for 2 days and slowed down a bit so I bought some Mmellenia and he is eating that well.
  2. One can tell how loved she is Sending my sympathy
  3. Looking for an update. What a pip. At least Ringo only eats edible good stuff
  4. He likes lamb so I'll pick up some Hund N Flocken and see how it goes.....
  5. They do but I don't think he will eat them. I'll take another look at them
  6. OK -- he is eating roast beef, frozen BilJac (just a little), yogurt, cottage cheese, gravy from Merrick canned. He does not want kibble (of course I just bought his....) He might eat the high protein/high fat kind but I can't take the chance of pancreatitis on top of all of this. Off to research some low fat kibbles that taste good...
  7. Having had a few greyhounds, 3-5# over race weight is ideal pet weight. If they get sick, they will lose 5# in two days (from experience I know this). Since he didn't race it might be hard to determine what 3-5# over his race weight should be. Pictures can be deceiving. He looks like he could lose around 2# from what I see.
  8. If I don't have a breakdown over this I never will have one. He got a B12 shot yesterday and still not eating well. Time to check his thyroid. I don't think he's on enough but it's been in the background because the calcium is more important. He'll get adjusted and needled on Friday after his blood work. Prayers and good thoughts appreciated
  9. Calcium STILL high! Stopping the tums and cutting back on the calcitriol. He started eating a bit yesterday (didn't hardly eat anything Sunday) and did eat something this morning. Chiropractic Friday
  10. He didn't eat yesterday and wouldn't touch yogurt this morning. He did lick the gravy from 1/2 can of IAMs and ate two pb biscuits..... He wasn't around when I left for work -- couldn't figure where he went. It dawned on me on the way to work he was probably hiding -- being inconspicuous until I left and I was right. Rosemary said he was back in the family room, roaching. He does not want to go back to the vet. Tomorrow he has to
  11. Get him some carafate (sulcrafate is the generic) to give inbetween the atbs Wrap the tramadol in a little ball of bread to shove down -- that way, he won't taste it. What I consider junk food but if it gets them eating.... IAMS beef cuts in gravy, Science Diet canned Tuna, rostisierre (sp) chicken, jack mackerel -- anything that stinks
  12. Magic ate WalMart roasted chickens for a year with kibble for a week and maybe once in a while roast beef. As long as she eats! Very common among sick dogs and advanced age dogs. Last night Huston ate at 8, 10, 12 & 2 a.m. and something different each time btw -- Annamet grain free chicken reduced fat is a hit with all my guys. If you get it, if she won't eat it with a little water on it, try soaking in very warm water and let it swell up.
  13. It's a balance between the calcium and calcitriol. Too low calcium and he can go into seizures. Too high and it'll wipe out his kidneys. To little of calcium -- the calcitriol won't work. Too high of calcium intake and the calcitriol becomes dangerous. I really don't like getting medical knowledge this way.....expensive, frustrating and nerve racking
  14. Calcium still high lowering the calcitriol
  15. Thinking of you. After a couple of rough days, he will be fine!
  16. I think everyone is going to say she is fine. I'd like 2 more lbs on her She should be at her race weight or 5# over (not more)
  17. Seems to be doing well. This is going to be a cat & mouse game until we get the right combination.
  18. Apparently this is for high calcium also: when he got up he walked stiff legged in the back for a bit. Then he went to drink water and had what looked like a mini cervical event (lasted about a second). When he laid down after going outside (and he did trot in), his one shoulder muscle twitched. That was enough for me to take him.
  19. He will do fine without the eye and finally be out of pain once he heals. You will be surprised how well he does. Sending many prayers
