  2. Have you done a TBD panel on her? How are her teeth? No NSAIDs! Sending prayers. And yes, if she is in true kidney failure, subq fluids will help a lot. What exactly are her values?

  6. That is someone's opinion. Of all the dogs I know tested at Protatek, I can tell you it is no where near 50%. However, if the dogs tested are from Texas, I would not be surprised. I know of dogs tested at North Carolina and they said negative yet the dog got better on doxy. Does that mean North Carolina is not any good? Hardly! Either the tick disease the dog had was not tested for, or if you read Dr. Stack's writings, you will see it is possible for a sick dog to test negative and they are really positive.
  7. Protatek is around $70 to test for the standard: e canis, valley fever, rmsf, lyme and babesia. Her platelets look fine, but it is possible to have a TBD without low platelets. Why not just do the tick panel?
  8. Probably the best thing is what she is doing--staying off of it Hope she heals quick!
  9. Sending prayers! I hope he can get those nasty teeth out. At least when they are tubed, you know he can breathe.....
  10. I don't like giving anything for pain unless you know what you are treating. Not treating for minor pain keeps them from using the leg and thereby not injuring it more. Feel the muscle in the leg he is favoring. See if there are any muscle tremors. If he is still limping in 3 days, vet time. Do you have a certified chiropractic vet or acupuncture vet close? When you have to use a pain med, tramadol works pretty good Even ascriptin should be given with food. Be very careful with it. Some dogs cannot tolerate aspirin. Sending prayers!

  20. January 25, 2008 Hi Diane, How's everything in Texas? We're still in the refugee camp, aka basement, aka bunker. Winslow is limping ever so slightly but seems improved, and his foot isn't swollen. I have found nothing to indicate a problem and the only time he has any tenderness (I wouldn't even regard this as pain) is when he's outside and trotting around. Otherwise, he's good. He's getting all the extra spoilage that comes with being down here... visitors, treats, steak, etc. Craig and I have both "set up shop" down here to be with him. We all want to move back upstairs, but we're not going until this is totally resolved and there's no limping at all. I have shoveled out a path from the steps to the back yard. From now on when there's ice, we will only walk to the back yard, which I plan to keep clear of snow and ice. I know he's going to hate it, but as we know, eventually, he's gotta go. This seems to be our only solution to keep him off the ice, gravel and road salt. He cannot hate pooping in the backyard more than we all hate living in this basement. I hope all is well with you and your pack. If you get a chance, maybe mention TF to Darcy deerhound. They're afraid the chemo will make her lose her hair. After chemo, she can get back on track and maybe it will help. It sure did something for Mr. Hot and Fuzzy.. (As you can tell, I've been lurking again... I just cannot watch another minute of TV!!!) Glynis
