  1. Since Honey's been at the vets Miss E will crawl in a small crate, she even opened one & let Noel out the other day when I went to do turn out for Laura, and will suddenly let out the worst cries. Sat morning she woke us all up just crying & was very aggatated, then this morning she was really screaming so all the dogs jumped up but they didn't act like they wanted to attack her at all. At first this morning I was afraid it was my border having a seizure but thank goodness it wasn't. Yesterday Laura called to check on our girls as I was afraid the news wasn't going to be good & it wasn't, Honey wouldn't eat even the baby food & they had to use a sling to get her up to potty. I just feel Honey's time has come & that Miss E knows her firend is in very bad condition. Tomorrow I have to take a returned dog in to have his thyroid checked so will find out just what is going on. I didn't think my most perfect dog would be the first to cross the bridge but you never know. Thanks for letting me ramble.
  2. Run free sweet girl. Thank you for taking care of her.
  3. Well the girls are staying at the vets. Honey would not eat this AM & there has been no change in Wishes. Concerto is doing the best of the 3 but they just want to make sure her fever stays down before sending her home. All prayers & good wishes greatly appreciated for these senior girls.
  4. I called the office just before they closed to check on our girls. There hasn't been any changes so they have to stay tonight. Poor Miss E is really missing Honey & Delight misses Concerto. When I fed Laura's dogs this evening Delight just gave me a very hurt look like it is my fault her buddie isn't there!
  5. Pepper will have to wait until next week as our vet has her continuing ed classes Fri & Sat. It isn't something that he rubs or seems bothered by.
  6. Yesterday I had to take my 12-1/2 yr old Honey & a foster, 3 Wishes to the vet & today I took Laura's girl Concerto in & all 3 girls are staying. Poor Wishes has no control of her legs, she looks like puppies do when they are just learning to walk, she is alert & doesn't act like she's in any pain. Today she wasn't any better but no worse either. The vet said as long as she doesn't get kidney problems she probably will be ok. Honey was terribly dehydrated & wouldn't eat & her abdomen was very tender. They put her on IVS & did blood work on her. She ate a little breakfast but is still under observation. Poor "Toto had a fever of 105 so she's staying too. When I got there this morning the vet had an emergency with a horse & her colt so was running behind and another woman that was in front of me got mad that she had to wait. I don't get mad when this happens because I have been the emergency person & am just glad the vet takes such good care of her clients.
  7. Noel does this & the vet said to raise her food, like on the stairs so it slides down easier. She also isn't bothered by this & it is like a baby burping. It has to do with how they swallow & how the top of the stomach cloeses to keep the food in.

    Oscar

So sorry to see this. Run free sweet boy.
  10. We print this out & give it to all our adopters in their packets. I took some to our vet when we started using her as she didn't know all the differences in greyhound values. Dr. Stack is very helpful and it's nice to have someone one the western end of the country we can contact as well as Dr Bill & Dr Couto.
  11. Years ago we had a little Doxie that broke her hind leg. The vet was an older man & he fixed her, but then the hind legs are bigger. After everything was healed if Hexie wanted special attention she would hop around holding her leg up as if it was still broken, often she'd be holding the wrong leg until one of us told he "wrong leg!!". Good luck & keep us posted on how things go.
  12. Bonnie, I'm sorry to see this but at least now Pud is with Daddy again. Hugs to the 3 of you left behind.
  13. MissE is home & Ocala is happy. Poor Miss E doesn't feel good & is sleeping without moving but at least she's back. Ocala sat outside the crate for a long time this morning just to make sue her friend feels better. Last night each dog took a turn giving her a welcome home sniff & a quick kiss so now alls right in the house. again.
  14. Monday afternoon I came home from running errands to bright red D all over the living room carpet so Miss E was rushed to the vet. She is still there & not doing so well. Poor girl fought me getting her into the car as she was afraid I'd leave her as I did. I never saw how much Ocala had bonded to her before but now I'm having trouble getting Ocala to eat as she shares the kitchen with Miss E at meal time & just keeps looking for her firend. Yesterday she kept going outside in the heat to see if she could find her buddy. I'm hoping they are back together soon.
  15. Firdt Hoover went to see the surgeon yesterday about his malformed front leg. He is growing so fast-weighs 38.8 lbs & is all BOY!! It is going to be a long process to fix the bone plate problem. First the will cut the ulna & put a spacer in so both front leg bones can continue to grow at the same rate. When he has reached total leg legnth then there will have to be more surgery to stregthen the leg. We don't want any problems with the shoulder so this is the best way to go. Hoover can run but I can see that it is giving him some problems which will only get worse if left untreated. Of course both pups (Noel goes with us when we are gone for any legenth of time ) were a big hit both with all the doctors, staff & other owners. People could not believe that Noel is 9 months old & weighed in at 27.7 lbs. There was a very beautiful GSD there that wasn't interested in seeing his parents, only wanted to meet the pups! Pepper is a sweet non tattoed white/black boy that I picked up a month ago. He just walked up to a man working in the yard & was so covered with ticks & flies it was terrible. This kind family took him in & gave him several baths, pulled all the ticks off while he just stood there. He has put some weight on & now is 57 lbs but still looks like death. He was not heartworm positivebut does have ehrlichia. This dog is just a year old & it's a good thing I don't know who had him before he found his angel. It is going to take a long time to get him in shape to go to M&Gs. Also he has a very strange bark & a friend said it is possible his vocal cords were cut as she has a Dal that came frome a drug house that had the same type of bark. It only took Pepper 2 days to learn to ask to go out to potty & he gets along with the other dogs at Laura's house. When I took him up there he was very scared to go inside & Shorty ( the 14 yr old Corgi) went up to him & started giving him kisses so he followed her inside. It is amazing how the old dogs just know when a new one needs some doggie TLC as well as human TLC. These 2 boys & Noel are really stretching our finances so people, please don't be irritated at us for not taking in any more dogs for a while. Please keep these special needs dogs in your thoughts as they are going to need all the help they can get.
  16. Hugs from North Texas-back problems are no funn. Take care Oscar, Honey says you are the most handsome man here.
  17. Welcome home you big softie. I'd have fallen for him too. Congratulation all
  18. Prayers % ear rubs to Penny & hugs all 'round to the rest of the family.
  19. We can so relate!! Sat the power went off about 5:30( was off until 3:00 the next morning) & it didn't take lomg for the house to getinto the high 80s with even higher humidity. I have a new neighbor who was setting off those professional type fireworks & the poor dogs were going nuts. After 2 hours I went & asked how much longer they would be setting them off & they said at least 2 more hours & the fact that he was "doing it for the vets" was suppose to make it right. I really don't think in a neighborhood is the right place to set off these big things. Of course we've been having more each night & I know tomorrw will be bad again, I just hope the power stays on so we can be cool & have music on!!
  20. Good wishes from all the wobblie ones here for Sally & hugs to you & Marc.
  21. Ocala says getting old sucks & she knows how Sally feels (she turns 14 in July). It is so hard to sww these girls get frail. I hold my breath each time Ocala gets frisky & plays lika pup, but is nice to see her have fun. Maybe just resting will help along with all theGT prayers.
  22. Here in north TX we can't get rig of all the puddles right now!!! My backyard holes are so full of rain & it keeps raining so there's no way to drain things. This the third wettest June in recorded history & all the dogs plus me are going stir crazy. We also have hords of bird ticks on the dogs. None of the flea/tick products work on these tiny things so we just have to pull them off the dogs. We needed the rain, just not all at one time.
  23. Be a good girl Dallas & leave all the non food items alone, Mom & Dad don't need any more worries!!
  24. Just saw this & am so glad Dallas came thru ok. Funny how they find all the wrong things to eat!! Hugs to you & positive thoughts for Dallas.
