I am sorry he is not getting to come home, but it does sound like your vet is on top of things. I am sure he is getting great care, still, for Dear and for you
while it is a terrible shock for the ones left behind, that IS a good way to go, quickly, doing something you love. I've seen way to much of the other ways

Sugar has bad arthritis and backend weakness, the acupuncture has helped her a lot! One visit her vet did that heated stick on the needles thing , but mostly we just use "dry" needles. It has also helped her incontinence problems, a whole lot!
Sugar's panting turned out to be from an enlarged heart. Since your girl is over 12 and your vet is grey-savvy, might be worth checking out. Hoping it is just stress and she will settle soon!
Wow, he is looking so much better! I think he will be a very handsome boy when his coat grows back in, or even if it doesn't, he is still a handsome boy
