  1. I've always used the trading method as well. I know some people say they should be able to take anything their dog has with out a fuss from the dog. In theory, I agree, but I also think it's a little unfair (I know, human emotion) to take something really good away with out offering something in return.
  2. aw, poor Robin! It does sound like a serious allergy, but could be autoimmune, too When Sugar was on a restriced diet, the vet told me I could make treats for her by slicing the canned food thin, putting it on a cookie sheet, and putiing it in a low over (200-250) until it dried out (about 45 min) and use that as a treat. It was a pain to make, but gave her some variety. She was on potato & vennison also.
  3. Glad Murray didn't suffer from his pepper adventure! Some animals don't have the receptors(?) to feel the heat from peppers like people do, I guess dogs are in that group. I know I foolishly seeded and chopped some habeneros with my bare hands and the skin on my fingers was painful for several days
  4. I remember doing this for Sugar Fletcher, 90 lbs, 8 yrs old, 50/min Molly, 70 lbs, 8 yrs old, 30/min Sallie, 60 lbs, 6 yrs old, 30/min all greyhounds Darcy
  5. hmmm, I guess what I meant was, when I first took Sugar for acupuncture, I was neutral/skeptical about it working, but figured it was worth a shot. She would only know if she felt better (or not), not respond to expectations, like people who are told about something. She responded great, I tried it and it worked for me, too. Not sure if that is "placebo" or not Now back to the original topic...
  6. acupuncture was a huge help to Sugar, so much so I started going for my own arthritis . I haven't tried the laser therapy, so I don't know how it compares. (pretty sure the placebo effect is irrelevant when it comes to dogs )
  7. Given how well she has kicked cancer's butt, I am sure Darcy will be one of the ones who goes on and on! :candle
  8. Fletcher is a couch licker. It definitely puts him in a trace state
  9. I read this in the paper and was going to post the link, thanks for doing it for me . The greyhound on the front page caught my attention, of course. Oh, and the oncologist mentioned in the story, Dr. Hershey, was Sugar's acupuncturist, fantastic doctor!
  10. Hoping the drugs work. Sugar had heart problems (not sure how they were related to what Darcy has) but drugs really helped her, also (believe it or not) acupuncture actually improved her heart condition. :candle
  11. hoping it is just arthritis! Acupuncture really helped my old girl when her arthritis was bad, plus she had spinal problems. The Adequan shot helped a lot the first time, not so much after that. for clear xrays!
  12. damn those hooks are persistent! at least it is something you can treat
